Hey everyone. i am trying to put together a mix of the best trance of 2003 - 2004. a 2 cd set. i only want the tracks that give that "rush" feeling. songs like "as the rush comes". and "love comes again".. those are the first MUSTS in my opinion.
what do you all think? |

| If it's PERSONAL mix then why don't YOU pick the songs from 2003-2004 that gave you that "rush" feeling. How do we know which songs affected you, different strokes for different folks you know? |

| to be honest. i havent found that many songs this year that have been that moving. thats why im taking other peoples suggestions. that way i can discover new remixes and tracks altogether. |

i think this mix is bound to be . youre only going to get the massive tunes that have been played on ASOT (the quality of which has been ghastly at times) and its (probably) going to sound like a badly mixed cross between armin and tiesto
sorry to be harsh, but if its personal to you go ahead and do it, but to save you an awful lot of hassle (and expense) go to the amateur DJs forum and download some mixes from there. the end result will probably be the same |

One of the best replies to a thread i have seen on this forum.
If you want to make a mix of the best tracks of 2003-2004 - why don't you select the tracks yourself? Mix the track, as Dan says, mean something to you, move you, the people....i know Dido - Sand In My Shoes (Above & Beyond UV Mix) would definitely be in my mix...as it is in my sets - regularly :) |

The only rush that tune gives is a rush of vomit in my throat. |

i think the best thing for you to do dude is to search for it, because it seems these people, like me, are tired of cutting and pasting everything we said in the past year or so ..
just my opinion..
if you need something from the past year or so, just pick up some ASOT episode, or download the latest TA download (PVD live set).. those are good examples.
here's one ..
legend b - lost in love
whoops is this 2004??

| well excuse the out of me for asking peoples opinions on their favorites for the past year or so... no wonder the party scene has went in decline for so long. so goddamn jaded... no one wants to help out anylonger. im not able to get out and go to parties anymore like i used to. due to me starting a family and growing the up but i still enjoy the music. i ask opinions so that i can hear what other think. and make my own opinions based on what i like. im just trying to broaden my horizon on the trance tip. i wasnt tryng to be a superstar dj, just something to listen to on the way to work. and to get me in a good mood when im feeling like ass or depressed. |

whilst i dont want to get into an ideological debate with you about the merits of trance, i have to mention trance has been into decline for a while now, the quality of 99% of tracks is . thats why so many people have moved on, have changed their taste and broadened their horizons.
you want to make a best of 2003-2004 cd...fine, go ahead, even if theres still almost a whole quarter of the year to go. we were pointing out the obvious - whatever cd youre gonna make with "big" tunes its just going to sound like a badly mixed version of ASOT. period.
ill repeat what i said in my post earlier on: save yourself the trouble and expense of buying records and making a mix, just download any ASOT, or even some of the newer sets in the tranceaddict download section
and as for "broadening your horizons on the trance tip", if you really want to broaden your horizons go to www.hybridized.org, theres a ton of fantastic sets there, all with the artists' permission, that you can download for free. that really WILL expand your horizons. |

Don't people have their own tastes any more?
Neither of those tracks give me a rush, they're just two of the more average mainstream trance tunes of the past year. Why don't you just find out all the trance that has gone Top 40 the last year, because that's what you're asking for. |

the reason no one wants to really help out anymore is because this has been discussed literally thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of times, on past threads. please do a search and you will see what i mean.
also, why not create your own style? it's easier to listen to alot of tracks yourself and pick out what you like. it's what i did, that way there is no reason for me to start a thread asking people for their opinions and get flamed :) |

i agree with him .. start our own style .. that's what i did to expand out of trance .. i listen to more ambient/acid jazz stuff .. maybe that's why i feel so mellow and lowkey all the time ..
hmmm....
i am boring now .. blame it on the music. |
