Ya and when one president gets killed its a 'big thing' - yet everyday thousands of ordinary people die. |
Of course we're going to care if the commander in chief of our country is assassinated while in office, if that's what you mean. If you're talking about Reagan then I agree with you. |

Does it matter?
Here's another one:
In the Academy Awards they always honor some 'actor' or 'director' that died this year. I've never seen them honor the thousands of starving Iraqi children (even though that is a true Hollywood cause!! )
 |

I think the Africa situation is worse, mainly because it gets less attention than the 9/11 disaster and more people are affected by it.
Don't get me wrong, the 9/11 disaster was horrible, I just think that the african situation is far worse.
It's easier for us to relate to the 9/11 disaster, and maybe that's why we take it more serious. But just because we can't really relate to their situation doesn't mean we have to ignore it. Unfortunately that's exactly what many people do. |

Death of innocents is bad either way, but some deaths are just easier to relate to.
9/11 touches the western world more since its easier to relate to than the thousands that die in africa everyday. not that im saying either one is worse, but its just easier for the average person living in a city to feel compared to the starving kids in africa.
man youre in lulea sweden? im down here in the south and its already so cold! you must be freezing there already with the snow |

Terrorism affects people in the west thats why. In Africa what do we have to relate with them? Starvation and disease just isn't a western problem. But terror is.
As of which is worse. For me living in the west Terror is, and most people feel that why. Personally I just don't really want to help Africa, and most middle class in the West feel this way. Personally I'm tried of celebrities like BONO stealing hard earned middle class Canadien tax money and throwing it away in Africa, when he himself is a millionaire. |

| both are horrible, but the situatin in Africa is worse because we know about it and we do nothing to prevent any more deaths, all it takes is political will from the western nations and no one seem to care about it at the moment. |

We know about the situation in palestine and how palestinians are attacked everyday by the most racist, prejudice state on earth. And still do nothing about it, so does that make it, as worse a situation as Africa? I don't get it.
Political will is affected by the will of the people. So the majority in the west, are like me and don't care. Especially in a country like America that is built on iduvidualism. |

tell me something i don't know, whats your point? it doesn't make the famine in africa any better. |
|

My point exactly that it's not going to stop. However were me and others in this forum differ is who's job is it to stop the famine.
And I am telling you it's not the West's job, it's Africa's. And that the reason why western governments are not helping africa, is because they act on the will of the people in their countries, and the will of the people dont give a crap. So we should not try to force middle class westerners to give up their hard earned money to foreigners. |

That's more like choosing between two American Idol finalists. |
