WTF? My friend and I are sitting on the speaker case in front of the dj booth enjoying the view and the vibe and we get yelled at to get off the speaker.
OK i can understand if sitting there:
a) affects the sound
b) could cause damage
c) could skip the needle somehow
but the structure was solid and the dj booth was built right into the side of the building. There was absolutely no harm in sitting on that ledge. So what's the deal? Does it just not "look good" somehow? It's not like we were doing like at guv where somehow people crawl up into the bassbin and distort the sound. LOL!
Nightclubs in Toronto have lost the ability to allow you to be comfortable. You can't do this you can't do that, go here to do this and don't do that there. I remember when you could go out and sit on the floor in the corner if you wanted to. You could smoke anywhere and bouncers didnt give a if you wanted to hoist your girlfriend up on your shoulders and dance.
Little Louis Vega and Dimitrie were great but clubs need to loosen up on their crappy rules. This goes for all clubs btw, i'm not just picking on system. |

| If clubs built adequate seating into the design, their wouldnt be a need to sit on the speakers would there? |

u mean ur not picking on JUST system but ALL the clubs in Toronto :p
yea i know what u mean though. Clubs don't have the seating capacity of 500+ people or else there wont be any dance floor room. |

| the seating they had was off in a corner where you couldnt see nor more importantly, hear anything. I didnt want to dance at that moment but i didnt want to sit in a boring corner either. |

im not even asking for more seating. Im asking why the hell it was such a big deal that we were sitting there? Clearly it was an image issue for the club. Well let me tell you that two guys standing around looks much worse on the club than if they were sitting on that ledge. |

| It's called respecting other peoples' property. That is what we do as adults. Equipment costs money and the club should have the right to protect it. If you sat on my sub woofer at home I would tell you to get your ass off it too. Just because it is a club doesn't mean the public should be able to sit, drink or smoke where ever they hell they want to. You also can't take your drink past the DJ booth in the front room at SYSTEM but do you see the DJs who have to sit behind the decks without anything in hand complaining, no. They realize that protecting the equipment so that it functions is ultimately more important than their needs of the moment. |

I doubt its the policies of the club and more the bouncer just trying to be a prick... at least thats been my experience at most clubs. The owners want you to have a good time and keep you coming back for more, but the bouncers couldn't care either way.

As I said, there was absolutely no harm in being there. If you saw the design, it was if you were sitting on a concrete platform. There could be more damage from people standing next to this thing and spilling a drink down inside than from where i was.

if it was me who asked you to get off the speaker it was because i didn't feel like tripping over you and cracking my skull from falling onto the pavement floor while trying to do my job of taking photos!
a) the top of those bassbins are always wet and slippery
b) its dark and i can't see how close to the edge i am standing
c) i don't want to get injured or worse, die for tripping on someone. |

so you think you know who Zizi is? Zizi is not a HE, rather a SHE.
there is harm in sitting on those bassbins. you are sitting on thousands of dollars worth of equipment. as angelgirl said, have some respect for other peoples property.
if you were at a friends house party and he/she had speakers worth a few thousand dollars. would you be sitting on it?
did you also ever stop to think that there would be broken glass on top of those bassbins? if you injugured yourself the club may be held responsible. think about it rather then whining about it. |
