| how do i connect my 1989 yamaha psr-47 keyboard to the comp through midi? the yamaha it has the in/out connections for midi, and im pretty sure i have the correct cable, one end is midi in and out (which the other end connects into my creative sound blaster sound card via the joystick type connector). I connected the cable...but i didnt see any NEW HARDWARE FOUND in my xp...is it even supposed to automatically recognize the midi device? also, do i need some sort of driver for this keyboard or not? thanks |

I had that problem with my yamaha too. I use cubase and the moment I plugged the thing in, it didn't respond. Now, I already knew that there shouldn't be any 'new hardware'-messages. (I've connected keyboards before) I tried to select the proper device: That'll be the output of your 'SB Live!', but still no effect.
I tried to put 'Midi in' (on the cable) into the 'midi out' of the keyboard...
Actually, this didn't work out immideately. So I then restarted Cubase (you should probably restart your specific program) and it worked!!
So, try to switch cables and make sure you select the right device in the program! |
