Well I have kind of decided with a portable mini-disc recorder so I can just burn straight to my player....
But do any of you have any recommendations? I've seen some really nice Sharp.
Check out this link for lots of players, I'm really new to this all so any advice would be cool.

One thing I used to think, is that you could re-record over the blank discs, is this true or not?
Anways, I'd love to hear if any of you have a player :D |

| minidisc minidisc minidisc!!!:D there are so many advantages that md has over mp3. If you found t-station, you prob already know them. i'd get a mzr900. i have the old non-mdlp player(mze90) and the mzr90. the r90 sucks ass though. |

| Thor trust me , an mp3 cd player (rio volt 2 or soul player) is far way better than a mini disc , we've already had the same thread here . I bought finally an mp3 cd player (rio volt 1 , the 2 wasn't released yet , but the 2 is better cuz it has an lcd remote control + fm receiver) and im verry happy with it |

I honestly used to think the mp3/cd player was the way to go, but after reading more about minidisc it sure seems like an easy choice.

So I guess I just really want to see what owners or prospective owners think.. :D
I've made my mind up now with the minidisc, just a matter of which one now :) |

| ya md is better because its not a huge "clunker" like the other cd players, and the new mdlp players can have like 160 min? at 128kbs. and the mt77 is a good recoreder, my friend has that one. i know where to get them cheap if you live in the U.S though. |

all of our shizat at the radio station is on minidisc... and pretty much all of our work is on minidisc, so i feel very educated on this subject... anywho, the quality of minidisc is great
you can record and re-record infinite times WITHOUT losing quality
it's not like a cassette where with every play or record you lose a bit of quality, minidiscs will last you forever with proper care
it uses a plastic-like disc and uses a heat laser to put the data thingys in... so there's no permanent etching or anything of that nature
i in fact am in the process of prioritizing my finds so i can get one soon :) *drool* |

okie...quick run-down :p:p:p
Minidisc
for:- small size
- cheap $/Mb
- re-recordable
- long battery life
- does not need pc to record
- better quality compression (ATRAC vs. MP3)
against:- real-time recording (slow!..but will change with introduction of NetMD)
- limited recording settings (ie. SP, Mono, LP2 & LP4)
MP3CD
for:- extremely cheap $/Mb
- fast recording time
- adjustable recording quality
against:- large size
- cannot be editted/re-recorded
- not as good battery life
- need pc to record songs
MP3
for:- extremely small size
- fast recording/downloading time
- adjustable recording quality
against:- very expensive $/Mb (but will get cheaper)
- limited storge size (mainly due to cost)
- need pc to record/download songs
...for me, i prefer md because it's very compact & also reusable discs...ultimately i think the (nonCD)mp3 players maybe better (solid-state, no moving parts etc.), but currently the flash memory is way too expensive for large music libraries...MP3CD isn't bad except for the size...i used to carry my discman around and it was always a pain, now minidisc is much smaller & lighter |
