Review: My Ibiza trip *Edit: Now with pics (56k warning)

My 10 days in world's best continent - Europe. I’ve been to London & Amsterdam before. The usual…nothing that great, meeting old friends & drinking. London’s the same…the overpriced place, and then in Amsterdam, my stupid non-weed smoking ass got duped into having some space cakes and smoking a blunt. Lets just say I was higher than a kite. AND I LEFT MY CAMERA IN A COFFEE SHOP, only to realize 15 minutes later. :whip: Went back to the coffee shop, and just as I suspected, it wasn’t there, and no one knew about it. Oh well…there goes all my London and Amsterdam photos. But on the brighter side, we were leaving to Ibiza the next day. Oh yeah, Amsterdam sure does bring a whole new meaning to window shopping. :D:D:D

Next day we get to the airport a little early so I could get another camera. Found a decent one for a decent price, and off we were to Barcelona (our flight to Ibiza was via Barcelona). Let me just tell you, it is one of the most unorganized airports I have ever seen. An hour plus a beer later, we headed to Ibiza. Got to the island at about midnight. The minute you step out of the airport, this place has some weird aura to it. Feels right at home. The weather, the people, just everything was perfect. Except for the taxi system, I think they need to be more efficient.

An hour later (waited 50 mins for a taxi) we get to our apartment. It’s called Jet Apartments (Beh, thanks for the recommendation. Its an awesome place). The whole Playa d’en Bossa strip is full of life. Good music, good looking people, and good food. We checked in, freshened up and went down to grab something to eat. Now we thought that we would take it easy tonight since the Cream Closing party @ Amnesia (PVD & Tiesto) was the next night, and we wanted to be full of energy for that. Had some bbq kebabs, and went to a bar. There, the bartender told us Erick Morillo was playing at Pacha that night. WTF!!! Looks like no rest for us. So we bought our tickets (45 Euros each) and headed to Pacha at about 3 am.

Got to Pacha, harldy a line up. This place is very different, in a nice way. Went to the outside patio to get something to drink, when we find out, its 10 Euros for any drink (even beer) …and 8 Euros for water. And they do not accept any credit cards. Luckily we had some cash. We went into the main room, and !!!! Now I know what everybody was talking about. You just have to be there to experience it. When we got there, Benny Bennasi was playing. He’s ing good man! Never heard him play live before, and was very impressed. The people at Pacha, well very very good looking people. Everyone was doing drugs there, but no one was sketched out, like how we are used to seeing people at the Guv or other places here in TO. Everyone did everything in moderation, and you could see that they were in it for the music. Then Erick came on the decks. He tore the place up. :eyespop: :eyespop: I could not stop dancing. This was the 1st time I have seen him play, and will never miss him again if he is in TO. It was house at its best. The vibe was just great. I had to pinch myself a couple of times to actually realize that this is real. I was partying in Ibiza. Met a lot of really nice people, mostly from England. The night ended at about 8am, and once again it took us about an hour to get a taxi. Crashed as soon as we got home.

It was about 5pm when I woke up to the sounds of “David Guetta – Little More Love (Wally Lopez Mix)”. I thought that song was playing in my dream, but when I went to the balcony I found out it was being played at the Bora Bora Beach Party right below our apartments. So freshened up, and joined them for a bit. I had a good time, but I was still exhausted from the night before. I needed some alcohol. So we started drinking at the usual bar (where we got our tickets for Pacha the night before). Before we got too drunk, we bought our tickets for the highlight of our trip – Cream Closing Party. Each ticket was 38 Euros. Much better than what they sell at the door. We got wasted (what’s new?? :D) met a lot of different people, and then somehow we ended up in a table with some German chicks. Anyways we headed down to Amnesia together. Got inside at about 2am, and Tiesto was tearing the place up. Amnesia is ing HUGE!! I for one, have never seen any club like it. It was packed, but none of these places are as packed as what we experience here in TO. I found my spot to dance for the rest of the night. Tiesto was good, and that was whom I was looking forward mostly to. I was a bit surprised to see him play early, as I expected him to close. Then came the man of the hour. PVD. I’ve never been a big fan of PVD, he’s good, but not “Armin” and “Tiesto” good. This MOFO ing blew Tiesto away.:eyespop: :eyespop: He did play his usual trance, but he also played much harder music too ( I think thats the kind of music people in Ibiza like - hey I was not complaining). I could not believe my ears. I went a couple of time closer to where I could see the DJ booth just to make sure it was PVD. I have a new found respect for him. If only he played like this in TO. I don’t think I’ve ever danced with such intensity before. You guys just had to be there to experience it. And then towards the closing of his set, he played “Reflekt – Need to Feel Loved (original mix)” OMG , I nearly died!!! I was so into the music that I never actually moved from one spot to check out more of the club. Anyways, 8am came, and PVD closed. We all were still ED, and our flight to London was not leaving until 6pm, so we decided to head to Space. I had no idea who was playing or anything of that sort. But all I can say was that I was “Ibiza’d” (a term I came up with, it is what happens to a person when he/she is in Ibiza) and had to party more.

Once again, no taxi, and then found some private car who agreed to take us to space for 40 Euros (, now that I think about it, it was ing expensive). Got to Space, and after another 35 Euros each for entrance, walked into the infamous club. The sound is so crisp, the people are great. And the music…..lets just say its like the music played at Boa x 20. My feet were giving up on me, but I pushed them to the limit. When finally I could not move anymore at around 2pm. Walked back to our apartment, got some rest and then headed off to the airport. We were exhausted, sketched out, hung-over, everything you could possibly imagine. People at the airport were looking at us weird!!! I wonder why :D.

Im back in Toronto now, and am going thru some serious Ibiza withdrawal. One thing is for sure, the music sounds ing way much better there. I just don’t know what it is. And you know that in the island, everybody has one passion, EDM. Did i mention, its ING EXPENSIVE!! But it was worth every cent we spent. Given that we were in Ibiza for only 2 days, we saw Pacha, Space and Amnesia…not bad!
Oh yeah, I have vowed to go back again next year. But this time its going be for a week, and probably in August (we should organize something next year). I recommend everyone to check out Ibiza. It is something like you’ve never experienced before. What I am afraid of is that I may not enjoy partying here anymore, since I will be comparing. But I guess this whole thing will wear off in time.

PS: I wish we had radio 1 here.
