college is great like that. everyone is [at least in some respect] more mature about things, like social acceptance.

going to a large university [Iowa State = 26,000 kids] i was able to meet so many new people, it was great. college almost lets you start with a clean slate, because honestly, everything you did back in high school really doesn't matter any more.

if you live in the dorms, social interaction is at its prime, too. so perhaps since you went to a smaller school back in HS you just had a smaller chance of interacting with people.

college only gets better man!

High school is all about cliques. People in college tend to be more open minded...at least at first...because people come from various places. Sounds like people in your classes see qualities in you that maybe others didn't because they had been around you for so long and possibly took you for granted (or vice versa). Sometimes being exposed to new people is exactly what you need. That's why people move sometimes. ;)

Your experience reminds me of something that happened to me recently. I have always lived in my town (and surrounding areas) so I guess there are things that I take for granted. Spending time with someone from another country (in my hometown) made me see things through his eyes and it caused me to appreciate things that I failed to take notice to in a long time.

Yes. Big time. I was always fairly outgoing in high school, but I had a lot of people that didn't like me, and I was super intimidated by women. I could hardly talk to the girls that I liked. When I went to college I kind of butterflied, I guess you could say. I was still pretty insecure about women until later, but I became a lot more comfortable with myself and ended up knowing almost everyone by the time I left. I went to the University of Colorado at Boulder (#1 party school in the US) and by my junior and senior years, I always knew where the party was at. I definitely partied harder than I probably should have, but it was a lot of fun and I matured a lot through that period of my life. People grow up in College and start to appreciate people that will be themselves rather than feel threatened by it, like high school. Ride the wave, buddy, ride the wave. Still try and find those few really good friends that you can trust, and mingle with everyone else. It's a lot of fun.

I was pretty popular in highschool. I had a cute gf and she originally got me into that whole status, but then i just did it on my own cuz the kids got to know me more, rather than me just talkin to my crew (cuz we were nerds).....(oh and us nerds are the ones who eneded up throwing all the parties in college and love trance and attend shows blablabla...odd, eh?)....

anywayz, college same thing

I thrive off social interaction- just having a good time and meeting new people. Always looking for some one new to trip with :)

I am usually popular among the drinking/partying crowd...no idea why...

I am only in high school so this is not better than anyone else's post, yet. ( I am graduating soon!!!yes!) I agree with trancebrat on the cliques, they are everywhere. I moved to Florida in eighth grade and was somewhat "known." In highschool you tend to drift to the people in the activities you do. I am friends with many, many people, if you believe it or not.

Good advice! Be hot, learn how to hold drum sticks, and read music, then join your local drumline. Greatest thing I ever did freshman year. Wonderful, gorgeous guys. Now a days, girls go for the guys on drumline, not the football team.MIND YOU I JOINED BECAUSE I ENVY PLAYING MY SNARE/ SET AND AM A SKILLED PERCUSSIONIST.

Other than that, I am more focused right now about being accepted to PennState. I hope, I hope.
