ok, I got the 2 cd set and it's awesome BUT I have a few minor complaints.. Each track is too short.. This should have been a 3 CD set.
My biggest gripe is Second Sun - Empire is NOT the version Paul played at Gatecrasher.. The version Paul played at Gatecrasher is much more epic than the one in Politics of Dancing. I know some of you may like this reworked version but man I would KILL for a copy of the version that Paul played at the Gatecrasher. I have a feeling I'll never be able to get a good copy of that song because I read somewhere that it was a "work in progress". Tis a shame because I honestly liked the beta version a lot more than the final version.. |

| i 100% agree on that Second Sun comment. The GateCrasher version is SPECTACULAR and i love it to death. this PVD re-work, bleh. it's not as uplifting and the one that that makes the original SO SUPER (the buildup), is missing |

I guess Paul is doing the same as with the Born Slippy remix. He created it and he has the right to decide if he 'throws it out' or not. We may hear this master piece (Empire) in every one of his lately live sets, but I think that we'll never be able to get a copy, at least not in these moments.
This is what I think, BUT DAMN; THAT'S SOOOO!!!!!! BAD:mad: , SINCE YEARS AGO I'D KILL FOR THE BORN SLIPPY REMIX!!!!! IT'S SUPERB, BUT, AFTER LISTENING TO THE SECOND SUN'S ONE, I'M DYING:stongue: ...!!!!!!!
I really hope I'm not right ;) :( :)
But,...I'm really satisfied with Paul playing these teasures alive, it makes that kind of moments just unique and really worthy!!!!:D They are simply unforgetable!!!!!:p |

the version on the cd is the same version he played at xxl clubnight.
i thought this version was the original and the other version is the re-work...well thats what i read from fox... |

| well, he played the gatecrasher gig BEFORE he played the XXL clubnight gig so I reckon the gatecrasher one is the original one. It wasnt until clubnight that Paul started mucking with it.. |

Second Sun- Empire (original mix) will be out of course when the vinyl comes out...i personally think that the original is also a little more expressive and uplifting...the buildup seems to make more of an impact aurally...anyway...the album is amazing...
My only gripe is the fact that many people who have downloaded are not gonna buy it..which in turns means van Dyk will not receive the proper support (economically) for his work..sure he makes a lot of money..but i'd be pissed if my album were to come out in a bootleg manner 1 MONTH before the actual release date...im still gonna buy myself the "real cd"...cuz its PVD...period. |

I don't agree with you...PVD fans will buy the album cause they know that PVD deserves the money for this albums !!! Besides the album that is available for download is a promo with parts cut off, so it's more of a taster then the actual album...I know I will be the first one to the store when the album is released...
BTW...This has to be the best Mix Compilations that I have ever heard...the mixing is tight and the song selection is brilliant.
PVD has said years ago that he didn't do mix comps because they didn't convey the energy he likes to put into his live sets but I have to say that his album has hit the mark...personnally i feel it is much better the mix in motion 3 by AVB and definately better then Tiesto - Magik 7.

am i friggin retarded or does the rework sound of second sun exactly like the gatecrasher version to me.
ive listened to that EM countless times.... i *think* you guys just think it sounds different because there's no reverb in this album. pretty sure its the same track.
because it has the exact same structure as how he plays it on gatecrasher.
in which case i havent heard the original yet or whatevers on xxl..
seriously tho

oh yah and i forgot to say, this is an amazing compilation cd... not so much compilation or production album as a mix between the two

| Is this the complete album or is this minus a few minutes/have edits? I've listen to the part or the first disc and did not noticed any edits. Unless I missed them. |

Of course the "true" van Dyk fans are gonna buy the album..like i said, i'll be there just like you the buy the album the minute it's in stores..i was referring to people who are going to download this album just for the sake of [bold]HAVING[/bold] the album.. and you have to agree that a certain feeling of expectation is lost in terms of finding out what tracks he selected to appear on the cd as well as how they are mixed..the promo may not be full in length, but i think it gives you a bigger piece of a promo than it should...thats all..anyway the compilation is definitely amazing and i REALLY hope people WILL buy the cd (PVD fanatics or not)..i think the man deserves support in every possible way for his work...
