i've just been listening to some of pete tong's old essential mixes and just had to start this thread. pete tong sure played some great back in the day. he was a great dj. he's done a lot for the industry...so show your love for the man here...

I was actually listening to his cream 6th Birthday set last night. An outstanding set, some great track selection. But I also remember that set he played at Lotherton Hall in '99... just magic!

yeah both of those sets are fantastic...i'm listening to his homelands set from 99 right now.


when everyone talks 99...we always talk oakie and probably sasha...but i think tong was doing it pretty damn well too...good stuff

I can't say I've heard many of his sets, but his set from Gatecrasher June '99 was pretty sweet, first time I'd heard Natious- Amber :)

He's a pretty e DJ now - he went from playing mauro picotto - lizard every set to being a really dull prog DJ.

No, he was using the styles as an example.

However its pretty nieve to say he's , he's good however Tong's style has changed, which doesn't make him
beats and beeps

He used to be an ace dj, still a legend of the scene. The man who gave us the Essential Mix.


besides that, it's all gone a bit pete tong :stongue:

He was great at Ultra, and you've got to love some of his one liners on Essential Mix. :p

i dont particularly care for his old housier-sounding sets (circa 1998) but hey, thats just my opinon.
