i just done my first set on my new equipment and it was awesome - beatmatching is 100 times easier on techs than on my old crappy decks and my mixing was smooth as fcuk BUT i just noticed that theres a small chunk of skin missing from my middle finger on my left hand (the finger i use to slow down the platter) :wtf:

is the high torque platter supposed to do this? does this happen to anyone else? cos i aint really up for mixing much more if in a months time ill have no finger left :nervous:

Why did you touch the platter in the first place?

i always touch the platter while beatmatching (to slow down the track if the beats are ahead of the other track's beats - which happens quite a lot)

i thought a lot of people did this?

so you dont touch the record.

i touch the platter too, much easier for me. Well I touch it to slow it down, kinda hard to speed it up but hey....

anyways, chunks of skin missing is always a bad thing. Either take better care of your skin or stop in up so much when you beat match, then you won't have to grind ur nubb on the platter.

^^^ lmao

Your skin is probably pretty dried out.. that sort of thing has only happened to me once and that was during winter. I've done 7 hour sets and touched the platter tons of time during and it didn't do anything to my skin. Not sure what to tell you, other than to try some lotion?
Freak
all my skin is intact- and i do this night in night out.

its official: You are a freak who is shedding his skin.

Get some KY on the platter :haha:

lol...

i think ill get some lotion
RIP_Technics
try using the label on the record to slow down / speed up. if that causes ur skin to peel consider suicide

:D
Boomer187
yea, lube up the platter beforehand, or remove the razorblades form teh side :wtf:

hehe, imagine lubin it up like that at a club and the next dj gets up there......hehe good times.

Hm, dunno, sounds quite weird to me. I mean doesn't it hurt the motor if you hold down the platter? I find touching the label of the record much easier anyway, that way the platter keeps spinning at full speed at all times even if the record is stopped... and most of all, no loss of skin ;)
