Hey everyone, i have some technical setup quesitons, here's what I have-
Dell Laptop (1 USB in)
Ableton Live 4.0
Ultrasone phones
Here's what i want to do--
be able to record my own samples via microphone
be able to create my own samples via midi controller
be able to cue mp3s for mixing
so, if i have this right, what i need is--
1. 4 port USB hub
2. midi controller (thinking x-station or m-audio)
3. i/o soundcard (thinking echo indigo dj)
4. mic (no clue where to start here)
am i right here? is there anything i'm missing? suggestions? thanks

Somebody's going to do it, so I might as well. ClickHERE
M-audio MIDI controllers require an integrated USB port, they play HELL with hubs. |

you also need a preamp. you cant just connect a mic to your soundcard. unless your soundcard hasa preamp on board.
EDIT: oh yea, forgot to mention you can get a preamp quite cheaply (although they can get unbelievably expensive too :O). m-audio audiobuddies are good and they dont break the bank. |

| I recommend getting a firewire audio interface if you can (+firewire pcmcia whatever card if necessary). Also have a look into evolution midi controllers, theyre owned by m-audio now and are good price. |
