OT:getting a recording studio engineer/producer job

Ok, this does not have much to do with production studio stuff.
I apologize in advance.

Anyone here has an experience or opinions about the services
provided by:

http://www.getamentor.com/howthetrainingworks.html

The service supposedly has you pay $5k+ to be placed with a mentor at
a recording studio. The idea is that you will learn a lot of things,
do some good work, make a good impression and eventually get hired by
the studio.

Does this approach work in todays recording studio industry ?

Thanks.

Rather than the faceless resume, it is more realistic to expect that they will hire the high school student with the love of music who empties the trash baskets every day after school just to "pay his way" and be allowed to hang out there - who goes to pick up pizza for the sound crew - or begs to ride along and help carry equipment for the charity fund raiser at the mall - who asks to sit in at a local baseball game to listen to the sports announcer's play-by-play commentary.

That really does work, but it won't cost you 5 grand. Just go to a studio and tell them you want to help them out and learn how its done. and show them its going to be to their benefit to have you around.
