this was my initial reaction too, but now i kinda like it. we've all been influenced plenty by music and hollywood's flicks from that time era that will give the game more of a conscience...it will all be captured here...all that tupac ,GnR, pimped out older generation mustangs, references to movies like Menace II society.
It'll be like Vice city with Scarface and the all pop music

I'd say they appear to be game shots. In vice city you can set your game play camera views to capture images like this, so probably here its a possibility too.
