Well the thing is, I have no trouble falling asleep. But no matter how many hours I get (I get about 6-8 on average), I feel drowsy and sleepy when I wake up in the morning, and during the day (until I'd say about 3 or 4 PM).

It's really weird
I don't think I am a chronic insomniac, but maybe a lesser type of

anyone have a similar problem? or suggestions on how to improve this?
thanks for tha feedback :D

what time do you go to bed? I think alot of people feel the way you do, regardless of how many hours of sleep they get (be it 3 or 8), if they go to bed at like past 1am. No matter how many hours I get, if i go to bed at around 2am and wake up at 10, I feel mad sleepy and have to go back to bed at like 3pm. Try going to bed earlier and waking up sooner, if you're not already.

no it's no disorder, just sleepy happens to everyone

thats not insomnia, its prolly sleeping too much.

everyone is tired in the morning, but if you arent tired when you wake up, ie you wake up cause you cant sleep more - then youre sleeping too much.

i love that , but ive also learned that after reading a book until 315am and then getting up at 8 with a cup of coffee, i feel just as good. if not better|

insomnia is the inability to sleep, not the inability to not feel tired.

yeah I know but I don't think that's what my problem is. I wake up tired, and I stay tired throughout the day...
I go to sleep about 11 or 12 depending on the situation, and wake up around 6 or 7 depending on my class schedule

it's really beginning to be a pain in the butt cause I feel like that elmost every single day...

On another, somewhat related note, I go by my alarm clock religiously; in fact I have 2 of them (one set to ring 5 min before the other). Sometimes, when the first one rings, I wake up and I shut BOTH of them off, and go back to sleep. No, I don't hit the snooze button, I virtually turn them both off!!! I think I do it unconsciously, cause I have no recollection that it rang in the first place when I wake up naturally. This has caused me to be late for school more than once...

Make sure you sleep the same hours every day, and sleep the same hours on the weekends even if you don't have to. Problems like this usually are the result of your internal clock getting confused (e.g. you stayed out late partying, got back and slept into 3 PM the next day), and then not being able to normalize itself.

The only thing that will fix the problem, and keep it fixed, is consistant sleeping over a long period of time.

Hi... Just throwing this out there, but I felt like that following long periods of not getting any exercise... Once I started doing even simple aerobic stuff like walking a mile or two a day, I started to feel much less tired just after a week...

You have to calibrate your circadian rhythm

As said before, you have to get into consistent habit of waking up at a certain time and going to bed at a certain time - the amount you sleep should be the amount you need. Some people can get by perfectly fine at 4 hourse each night, some need atleast 10 - find out what works for you. Also, I've found that waking up in the middle of a dream will make you more wearisome - since your sleep patterns go in sort of 90-minute intervals or "waves" you need to try and wake up when you're NOT dreaming. Ever notice how you tend to remember dreams the best on days that you're really tired? That's becasue you woke up during the middle of one - which made you tired in the first place ;)

like i said earlier, i have the same thing. i go to bed at about 12 and wake up at 6 and i'm tired till mid afternoon. i only have one alarm clock, but it doesnt wake me. i usually have to rely on a phone ringing 45 times or someone physically waking me.
