Go and watch Saw (definite spoilers within) (pg. 2)

I got dragged out to see it last night and actually really enjoyed it. I was anticipating something of an all-out blood and gore fest, but was pleasantly surprised to find the film going for something more psychological than simply good-looking people being hacked to bits. I'm a right pansy and I didn't find it to be particularly scary or disturbing - in fact, waiting at Reading Train Station afterwards was many times more disturbing than the actual movie.

indeed event horizon is seriously ed up in parts, prob my fav horror film, just a shame Paul W.S. Anderson has gone down the pan recently (Alien Vs Predator/Resident Evil 2). Saw looks pretty interesting tho i will def be watching at some point.

is that that stupid film based on a space ship where they go find some black circle style warpy thing that goes into another dimension and all the crew slowly get taken over by evil etc...

if it is, thats one of the gashest films ive ever seen. total turd.

Prodigy - Funky at the end was the best part

The twist at the end was comparable to the Scream 3 "twist"...if you've seen that movie you'll know what i mean!

I didn't find the past murders in the movie disturbing because you can see them on the movie website, and Fiona's cynical teachings on me :disbelief have allowed me to see the world in a darker sense, and so the killers motive (i.e to teach people to be glad of their life) are interesting but not disturbing as you can see where he is coming from. In a world like today, stuff like that SHOULD happen to kick people up the arse to start living properly!

I've seen a lot of , and this just doesn't do it for me :p
For gruesome and "sick" twisted stuff, i recommend that you guys find a movie called Ichi the Killer...If you thought that when that girl had to find the key in the guts was gruesome, then you probably wouldn't be able to keep your food in your stomach whilst watching this!!!

It's mint! Have you seen Audition? I started watching it but was too tired for subtitles :p

Moving on to your point...Ichi The Killer isn't sick, it's laughable :haha: Fine it's really grusome but the gratutious use of blood ruins any sense of realism. The most disturbing scene for me was the hooker getting the living kicked out of her.

Saying that....it's a superb film, the characters (especially the Boss's henchman bloke with the passion for S&M) are all really well drawn-out and it's an engrosing story. It's not disturbing though...just gory and very wrong :p

I agree it's a good film, but the advertising for it and trailers make it out to be something that it's not. "Dare you see, SAW". You'd have thought it was either all gory or very disturbing when actually it is neither. It is a good film but i would give more credit to the advertising for the hype it has created.

Any film that can disturb and enthuse Charlie Clouser to write a score for it at the same time has gotta be good.

worth a read, and like has been said above, horror should remain in the mind, not splashed all over the place from a bunch of lackeys with buckets on either side of a film set.

I finally went to see SAW at weekend after waiting a good 3 months for its release. Now to say James Wan the Director is only 21 and its his first ever film its truly amazing, the plot, the sub plot, the twists, the turns...everything is beautiful.

The only bad thing i have to say is Danny Glover's performance was crap. His character had little substance and wasnt really needed.

SAW is a horror film without a doubt, we dont always need monsters or ghosts to set it's genre.

And btw the script for SAW 2 is meant to be in production:)

BTW did anyone spot the 2 give aways to who SAW was? :D

i thought danny glover was wicked, if anyone's performance was crap it was the doctor's, some of his acting is a bit horse- but he carries it off..

Heh, I thought his performance was pretty good. And that's after I recognised him from Liar Liar and Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
