Oh, and yeah, I really, REALLY, hate DJs that play on any other format other than vinyl.

You know those 12" black round things you play on turntables.

A DJ with a laptop looking down at the crowd makes me lose me clubbing erection faster than mental pictures of a 250kg 55 year old prostitute with emissions dripping down her left leg.

And if I wanted to hear ing cds, I'll sit in my car, not attend a nightclub or rave, or any other thing outside my car.

everywhere here has technics and pioneer cd decks
i can understand about the laptop, but cd decks are fine with me, as long as they dont overuse the effects

I agree with roxxie and im a guy. I hate people who go to clubs just to get girls. Its pathetic. Especially when someone like DJ tiesto is spinning and they ask "whos this dj he isnt bad" ing annoying. I can tell the clubbing type that go every weekend in quest of woman. Hate them with a passion. Especially when im with my girl but not "bumping and grinding" so one comes up behind her and starts doing it. Yuk!

What's so bad about CDs? You CAN'T hear a difference.

I hate waiting @ the bar...

i hate it when before going out i play all my fav tracks at home, get all excited, then go the club to get some top 40 or some genre i don't like, it's like i know they won't ever play my fav tracks but still i'll be expecting them for no reason and get disapointed

Mixing on digital decks is just too easy for me to offer any kudos to the dj using them.

I can understand the odd track that you only have on cd being used, hey I do the same, but even though you won't tell the sound difference at a performance it just doesn't excite me as much as seeing a dj without vinyl in his hands all night.

whats wrong with playing on other formats? Vinyl is the test format of the lot - big, bulky, prone to scratching, they wear out after a certain number of plays, and they are expensive to produce. What is it that you dont like about other formats? :conf:

..... and that's why I don't go to clubs (that often :toothless )

Ppl that smell is by far the worst thing.
WTF, why won't they just die and leave the dancefloor?................. Preferably, leaving first :stongue:

I view DJs playing on non-vinyl formats as being the musical equivalent of a pop or rock star on stage miming. Sure it sounds okay but when you go to a live performance I expect a large amount of originality, technique and skill under pressure to be involved.

You are going there to see a performance, its not always just about the music that is played. I am no armchair trance fan.

Mixing on digital decks can be done by someone under 10 years old, and playing from a laptop when playing live to a crowd of people that payed decent money for their ticket is musical fraud in my opinion.

But you are right, vinyl is bulky, scratches, wears out, is expensive, but what you don't mention is that it is sexy. The other more 'economical and practical' formats are not.

can you say "narrow-minded" there? mixing on cd decks isn't that easy. also do you realise that the vast majority of the so-called "top djs" are spinning mostly with cd's now?

Yes the top DJs might be using CDs, but that doesn't mean that I like it. Thats close to the worst reason for doing something I have ever heard. Can you say "sheep" there?

Oh cmon, have you mixed on digital decks? When the first sound on the cd is not the kick beat then it gets slightly more difficult, but its still extremely user friendly.

And for those that think there is zero sound quality difference between CDs and records, well, you are wrong.

At a huge huge event, you probably can't see the stage anyway, so it matters little, although for a small club, you can certainly see what the DJ is up to with his hands. Other mediums will come in and out of popularity, but vinyl will always stay.
