The idea is that you send them an email, and when they login to Messenger "BING, 1 new email!". Their logic is flawed :-p

Yah The e-mail logic is flawed, specially if I don't use a hotmail address to login to msn , in which case msn wouldn't be able to alert me about the new e-mail. I guess I'm forced to get a hotmail account in order for this workaround to work ..hmm I guess they won't be adding that feature any time soon uh? ;)..

I think he means being able to send a message to a contact that is offline. The message gets queued on the server so that when the contact gets online, the message is delivered (kinda like an e-mail would). Something which ICQ and Yahoo have been able to do for years.

I know but I just don't agree with it ;)

Tried it out... MSN 7.0 gets a big MEH from me. Apart from the looks, nothing major had changed. Winks? Nudges? Are you kidding me? Yahoo has had this stuff for ages now.

And FireStarter... where did you see anyone saying they wanted to be able to send a file to someone when they're offline? We're talking about a message here, i.e. text???
What does sending a file have to do with sending text?!?? :wtf:

what's wrong with receiving offline msg's .. ? what if someone wants to send u a quick reply to a question but u had logged off by then ?

goin thru the trouble of composing an email just to say something like "OK" or "meet me here at this time" is just annoying just as loconet had mentioned.

this is one of those reasons i never got used to MSN and always preferred ICQ .. it's just too bad that AOL had to buy it and bloat the dammned thing ..

Geez I hate messenger... unfortunately, everyone seems to be using it and nobody really ever bothers to switch to something else.

New version just looks like the same old bs.

Mac user, try http://www.proteusx.com/ or http://www.adiumx.com/
They are both awesome and support more features than MSN 4.0
