But for those who think danny's set at boa was undescribable and could never be topped, well then you just haven't seen danny more than once. The guy is a magician, and I'm expecting something at least in the same league as the boa party, if not just as good or better. Never doubt the Danny man, he is the definition of Great Toronto Parties. |
Exactly. Boa, Docks, Your grandmothers basement. It really doesn't matter where the Man spins...as long as the man spins. Yeah, Boa might have the best system, but knowing the kind of artist Tenaglia is, there's no way he signs up for a gig, unless the promoters can assure him that he is getting the kind of platform that is deserving of his craft. I've seen Danny T perform at a few clubs in NYC in the past, but nothing that would accomade as many people as the Docks. To see him rock a massive party is going to be quite a treat. |

Yes Perfect
condensation dripping down the walls in the dj booth
(quote from danny ) -- The DJ booth floor was completely wet from the humidity in the room. I was doing some extreme un-intentional dance moves that James Brown might have copied had he watched my feet!
The night was fantastic , Danny was awsome , BOA is an awsome club , but you are biased towards BOA (as I am towards the Docks) But at least I can admit that there is a world beyond where i work
Having seen Danny in Ibiza , NYC , and Miami as well as T.O (Industry and BOA) I can honestly say that he puts on a flawless show wherever he goes.
Also considering the requrements from Danny for a DJ booth , the Docks wins that contest , but we will see what the man says post event ,One thing about Danny he won't pull any punches and If we don't deliver the Goods on Sunday , he wil make sure everyone knows we screwed up |

That was NOT the only thing danny wrote about the night at boa...but I digress...
I never said Boa was perfect - I said as a patron I would prefer to hear him at boa.
I enjoy the docks for other parties, will be going there for sneak beats, and I'm sure it will be great. I do party in the world outside of where I work. |

Oh please. This is going a bit too far.
He's the one that's supposed to be entertaining us, not the other way around. |

I am talking about the Technical requirements from Danny regarding the sound and what he wants in the DJ booth, not the customers |

and so you should make sure the requirements are met. Danny is bringing many paying customers to your facility. If he likes the venue he'll definately agree to return, therefore giving you repeat business
I'm not too keen on the docks myself, but I'm goin for Danny.
I would do my best to make this man happy which in return will make us happy :toothless |

Thats what I have been concentrating on for the last 2 weeks , Dymax have been in everyday this week working on the system and Danny will be in pre event to fine tune it
we ordered a new mixer (he prefers the steve dash phazon over the rane 2016) from Phazon in NYC and we take delivery of his sampler later today. (CYCLOOPS)
We have added more monitors and the layout of the booth is already fine as it was designed by Joe Lodi of Lodi brothers that bulit and installed the booth in Danny 's Loft.
Also we are putting in the creature comforts that he likes --refrigerator , coffe machine etc
Finally the staircase is going in instead of that insane ladder , so YES I AM TRYING MY DAMNED BEST |

| Interesting, I thought he was being moved from the normal DJ spot to the stage. I guess not? |

It's great to see promoters taking positive steps which ensure the best overall party atmosphere for the patrons and artists involved. Well done techhead, and i know i speak on behalf of the TOTA's comming to this party when i say, your efforts are appreciated. :)

Clearly, Mr Tenaglia doesn't quite see it that way, Skipper. In any case, i'm sure he'll voice his thoughts post-party regarding performing at the Docks through his forum for his friends and fans. After that, if we're lucky there'll be two venues in Toronto that he will consider comming back to. Which to any true fan, is always better then just one. |

This is probably the most misunderstood aspect of Big name Dj's
before the rave scene , all dj's were in the booth
the temporary nature of the venues used for raves resulted in tempory structures being built for the DJ and since he was the focus of the entertainment it was natural to create a stage like setting.
When the raves went to legitimate venues it was natural to use the stage for the Dj.
For a DJ spining a 2 or 3 hr set , being out there on stage is fine , but remember by the very nature of the temporary setup it is not always ergonomically perfect, anyone who has seen the typical setup of something like a banquet table floating boxes or patio slabs on tennis ball s for the turntables and having to change the mixer (sometimes several times a night) to cater to Dj's preference and monitors usually sitting on flight cases , you can see its not perfect.(Yes at the Docks we do have a custom console that can be placed on stage which is very ergonomic)SO for marathon sets comfort is the key.
as a sidenote Paul Okenfold has the most amazing travelling flight cased booth whic he sometimes travels with that has to be seen to be believed
The Trance DJ with the "face the DJ hands in the air and worship him", suits the DJ on stage setup perfectly, same for Jungele DnB , because of the interaction of the MC with the crowd and the DJ.
Dj's that started before the rave scene (most of the older well respected Dj's) got comfortable in a DJ booth enmnviroment and House Dj's really want to concentrate on playing not being in a goldfish bowl.
Which brings us to Danny.
he likes to be seen , but he also likes his privacy , that way he can concentrate on throwing down a great set and not worry about photographers or people pumping his hand all night, there is time for that before and after and if the mood takes him.
I remember 3 years ago at Space in Miami where Danny stopped spinning and got on the mike to demand to see the manager as 2 of the owners friends had wandered into the Booth and he wasn't playing any more until they were gone.
To sum it up , the choice is often not the venues but the choice of the DJ , as to where he plays |

Awesome, sounds like a big job! Will we be seeing you on the dancefloor? |

Hopefully , but I will probably spend a lot of the night making sure that Danny has everything he needs , overseeing the lighting and video
(couldn't get eric to do the lights as he is doing black and blue and we could get aerial up from arc so we have billy who is pretty hot on the board for the first half and then Scott from around 7am , although I may jump on and show them how to do it properly LOL)
otherwise yes if will be there dancing my ass off |
