Getting sick.........work vs. home ???

I am sick with a cold and just about half of my office is too. This really sucks. I blame it on the seasons changing. Who else here is sick?
Second, do you think its wrong to come to work sick and spread your germs around even though its not intentional and you are doing it for the good of the office, or do you look to the other side and say you might as well stay home so you dont get others at work sick and cause productivity at work to decline?
Just wondering because in my corporation eveyone see's this differently. Some say wow your a trooper you made it in even though you look and sound horrible and others say stay the away from me you shouldnt even be here.
Well the story is I called out on Monday and thinking that there would be alot to do on Tuesday because all of our directors and managers returned from a conference I came in, come to find out all of them were in another location and didnt call me at home monday and bother to tell me anything. So Tuesday I left early, and I am here today and I am still sick. I dont want to leave early today to sound like I am trying to milk it, but some people are just looking at me like they dont want me here. (no one directly related to my job, people I dont know) |

I know the "Trooper theory"
But I think its better to stay home the first two days "if possible" you will let your body relax and hopefully you will get better faster.
Plus it sucks to be the "monkey" (from outbreak) being patient zero andspreading germs everywhere and next week everyone is sick wihile you feel chipper :-P
Just teasing..
Stay home and watch movies and listen to Music... |

| I get a flu shot every year, I am actually due for my next one the 26th of this month. By coming in at all I think I messed it up for myself. So now they are still going to expect me to come in but whatever. |

Stay in and get some rest. Why? Cuz my mom said so and she's always right.
But seriously, it's better to recover at home then go in feeling like crap, not really getting much done at work, have the day feel like an eternity and going home without feeling better at all. |

Make sure you call your doctor and confirm that's still happening... apparently a good percentage of the flu vaccine this year was contaminated in some way (mom didn't know the details when she told me today), and there won't be as many available. My dad's a doctor, and the company he ordered them from has *none* available for him for that reason... he's now gotta call around all over the place to try to get ahold of some, and most likely he'll have to cancel a lot of the flu shot appointments...they are recommending that only high-risk people receive them this year to make up for the shortage.
Just an FYI.

Well here at my company we normally have the nearby hospital come to our office building and give us the shots at work for convenience. The day was planned for Oct 26 for the whole building and whoever decided they wanted to sign up for them and theyre spouse and children. As far as I know the day has not been cancelled so I guess I will find out sooner or later. But I did hear about that on the news. |

Usally people who work in the medical field are more immune to bacteria / viruses. |

I'd say go to work (if you feel up to it)... You don't want to use up all of your sick days, and other people are going to come into work sick anyway... It's not like you're breathing down people's necks all day anyway, right? Just keep a distance...everyone will get sick somehow anyway... children, work, etc. It's just the season... it happens (disclaimer: I'm NOT a doctor, lol).
Keith
PS. Feel better:) |
