| Today at work, someone paid with a penny from 1929. I promptly switched it out with one of my own, much more recent pennies. I save all the old pennies that read "One Cent" on the back (I actually perfer it aesthetically as well), for basically no reason at all other than I like them. But keeping up with the proud COR tradition of useless posts, I decided to make a post to ask, whats the oldest coin you have or that has come through your posession? |

| When my dad, my brother, and I used to collect coins the oldest coin that I can remember us having right now was a 1919 penny. |

| My concern is, and I'd have to check with my accountant, that having an extra penny might bump me up into a new tax thing... |

do you mean the STEEL pennies? i odnt think they used copper for pennies in 43 or 44....i have a few of them. i have a few sets of the wheat pennies that you are talking of. my grandfather used to collect them, and we got them when he died. umm i have an indian head penny, forget the year. and i think the oldest coin that i have is a nickel from the late 1800s. the date is worn out, but it one of those libery nickels.
the wheat pennies are nice though, i prefer them to the ones we have now. |
