Correcting beats with Pioneer cdj-1000

So I just recently got a Pioneer Cdj-1000, I love this thing... The only problem is I'm not sure how I should be correcting my mixes ... As in, what's the best way to speed up the cd ?? or slow it down? I have it on the "vinyl" mode, but when i speed it up or slow it down using the platter, there's really not much control....
Can anyone offer some alternative solutions to this ?

| Using the pitch fader is one possible solution. It would be even easier than with turntables because it actually tells you where the slider is before you move it. |

It is actually really easy to do in essence, but it will take a bit to get used to it - manipulating the grooved outer ring (clockwise/counter-clockwise) of the platter is the same as pushing or dragging the record on a turntable. It just takes awhile to get used to how much to push it to get the results you want. |

| can use the jog wheel, on my denons i have whats called pitch bend buttons + and -, which can alter the speed of a track very gently to match the beats. Dont know if pioneer has this feature, should have!!!! |

| Just use the outer ring of the "platter." No pitch bend, and you can "push" or "drag" the record into the line up. :toocool: |

Sometimes...i have this problem...where pitch bend buttons are too perfect.
Really though, i cant stress how awesome pitch bend buttons are. Pioneers whole thing is nice, and fine, but i hope they make a version that has bend buttons.
Whenever ive tried pios im always trying to bend with that "platter" ring, and i'm always doing these light little touches trying to get it right, all the while knowing that a simple bend button would end the misery. Im sure it would come as second nature after some practice though. |

| i agree bleep, bend buttons are awesome, really getting the hang of them, with no distortion to the sound. Bending to the beat, is where im at!!!!! You guys who cant get head round them are prolly vinylist, where i'm a through and through cdist, so touching the platter to make corrections feels so strange to me. |

stupid method- its the reason i hate cdjs and will not use them if there is an alternative available.
