Well on a side note, that is amazing technology. Does it say what the pilot was flying? I wonder if the whole aircraft whipped around when the camera did the 180. and the precision -whistles-

This F16 was on such a mission, to hit a house with an LGB [laser guided bomb], when 30+ insurgents left the building en masse to hurry to a nearby engagement with US Marines which had been going on for hours. The pilot communicates with a FAC [forward air controller] either in the air or on the ground, and changes the flight path of the bomb while it is in the air. You can clearly see the "L" flashing in the MFD [multiple function display], and "TGP" [target] is selected.
I'm assuming that the bomb itself is probably a 500 pounder, as Mk84's would be overkill in an urban setting where the ROE [Rules of Engagement] calls for minimal "collateral damage."

Some times you people crack me up. You act as if the pilots took off, from where ever they did, and purposly started taking out civilians. It is such a stupid thought i won't even talk more about it.
Also, show me one war were civilians weren't killed. I mean ! this is not a video game they are playing. It can be damn hard to avoid civilian casualties.

Did or did not the pilots act on an aggressor?
That is the question that need to be looked at. From the video there is no talk of a prior dispatch or a close fly-by of the fighter jet. Were they called in to police the area or was this some sort of bombing raid from the beginning of the war. No one knows. From the lack of quality of the video there's no way to tell unless there's some sort of pre-enactment video to support the claims.
In other words:
What was going on before the pilots fired on the crowd. Look at it as coming into a conversation midway through and you haven't a clue what was said. Think of it in that terms. |

Dude...gimme a break....it's war people die...if it was civilians then oops...that sucks...
But to humor the notion that US pilots went and attacked innocent civilians on purpose and wasted all the $$$$$ on those missiles is so absurd that it makes you look like a conspiracy theorist..you act no different from the people who claim aleins abduct them...
Why on earth would a US pilot risk his career and life to kill civilians on purpose...it makes no sense what so ever...

Cripes tiesto14, I know you do have a head screwed on...even if it isnt always apparent. Dont assume that the other side is wrong just cause its a snippet. The video is contextless which means it could mean nothing or everything and without reference no one is right. If it has recorded sound (which apparently it does, I havent watched) that is a bit on context, yet still no one is 'right'.
I agree with your point tho, which is why the end of Fahrenheit 911 was pretty suspect. War sucks, people die - tho that argument neither refutes nor proves anything| |

fair enough.....
But even if they were civilians...who's to say they werent firing SAMs or RPGs at the jets, or there were troops on the ground who called in for air support....
bottom line - we will never know for sure what happened...to look under every rock is pointless. |

This is true... Civilians are always going to be the unfortunates in any war. No matter how much I hate the American military and Bush's foreign policy etc etc etc, I cant help but agree with pro-Bush group here today.
I, and no one else here, has a clue where this video came from, and (most importantly) nor do we have a clue on what the circumstances are. Therefore, we cant conclude on who these poor souls were.
If they indeed were civilians then the pilots need to be bought to justice (as if that'd happen anyway.. perhaps in a perfect world...)
If they were soldiers, then the administration would need to be bought to justice (since this whole thing is a war crime anyway.. but this is a whole nother story.. again, maybe in a perfect world, but lets not go there :)) |
