Was this about the Throne speeches? I read in the paper some bullplop from the Fiberals about them considering amendments from opposing MPs - but only if they were in line with the Fiberals' agenda, and if the opposition tried to pass too many amendments then they might call a snap election.
That's Canadian democracy for ya... I would have been incredibly happy if the vote had passed, I think after seeing just how many promises the Fibs are already keeping, many people would be less willing to vote for them now than a few months ago (but the sad part is, they'd probably still win :whip: ). |

| Damn... all this would have been avoided if Liberal + NDP = 1/2 + 1. Now the Liberals need the support of the damn conservatives and they're not gonna get much. I'm not surprised. NDP and liberals together would make a great team and be able to get some done... without having to worry about the conservatives and their damn support of fat, greedy businesses. |

^^^^ Yup, many welfare mothers would benefit from my higher taxes if they worked together...
No thanks |

Yeah, better that they support fat, greedy welfare cheats and fat, greedy politicians. Oh and a health care system that doesn't work.
Honestly, anyone who wrinkles their nose at the word "business" doesn't deserve to be taken seriously. |

| Business is required for jobs to occur. But somehow the socialists forgot about that while they were handing out the welfare cheques. |

I think I should add something, for anybody who actually thinks the NDP can do good for this country.
Generally speaking, conservative policy is to conserve, liberal policy is to tax, and NDP policy is to borrow. Instead of compromising on spending issues that need to be compromised on, NDP will just "find" the money and spend it on everything. NDP policy has always been to spend money that this country does not actually have.
And so you think, well, what's wrong with borrowing money, we'll pay it off when the country gets an economic growth spurt. Wrong. Even if Canada was headed for economic growth, borrow-spend is always a terrible idea. Don't you ever wonder why our taxes can be almost as high as Europe's but at the same time pay for so little? It's even more baffling when you think about the high costs of just about everything in Europe. Well I'll tell you how: the National Debt.
Many people don't realize this but between a third and HALF of total government spending gets sunk on paying INTEREST on the national debt. And guess what, folks: it's not the fault of the USA or any other company for gouging us or charging high interest rates, because over 80% of the national debt is owned by Canadians.
So, quite literally, the government is taking money from us in order to pay interest that is owing to us. Think about how ludicrous that is, and it's all because of post-wartime borrow-and-spend policies exactly like those of the current NDP government. The LAST thing we need to do is increase the national debt - we do that, and 10 or 20 years down the road we will have even HIGHER taxes and even LESS social programs because of that debt. This gives us the worst of both worlds, and is bad news no matter whether you're a socialist or a capitalist.
I don't bitch about the NDP much because to me they're just a complete joke and not even worth our attention on here. Heaven help us if they ever hold any sway in the federal government. |

GO BUSINESSMEN!!!
There is actually a valid reason why businesses are getting tax breaks and etc. and it makes perfect sense in terms of economy and economic growth.
So I wouldn't go into that because most people that argue about the whole concept of the taxes for businesses don't really know anything that's behind it. :thepirate |

The Lieberal Party is the party of big business and Bay St, i.e. the Establishment.
The Conservative Party is the party of small businesses and entrepreneurs.
The NDP is the party of the unions. |
