I did what you said, first There was no suspicious files in the add/remove section, and then I tried to remove it manually but when I went in regedit section and tried to find the damn file in 'run' 'runonce' folder there was nothing except 'default'.

Check the task-list when the toolbar is visible (ctrl-alt-delete -> tasklist IIRC).

Take note which applications and processes are running on your machine; if you see anything suspicious, google for it (using the name of the application/process in the tasklist), and see what comes up.

If you're not sure about which processes should be running, "close" the toolbar and check if any applications/processes have stopped running (i.e. disapear from the tasklist). Again, google for more info.

This will fail if the toolbar is started as a part of internet explorer, i.e. is running in the same process as it is. I don't use IE anymore (firefox rules :D), but you could check the preferences and see if you find anything usefull there.

I had that particular spyware 3 days ago, took me about 2 hours to get rid of it.

The spyware is called LOP. It's pretty damn annoying. It changes your URL over and over and everything, and keeps tacking on these ad shortcuts on your Desktop, etc.

Get Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, and Adware Spy. Update them all then run them all at the same time (takes a while). Kill anything that is found (you need a serial number for Adware Spy for it to actually kill what it finds). After, get a utility called HijackThis (PM me if you can't find it) to find the files that loadup on Windows startup. Delete them from the queue.

Get Webroot SpySweeper, run and prime that up for URL change prevention, and bootup apps protection, etc. Run HijackThis again.

Try deleting the two main LOP folders (forget what theyre called, but they're in Program Files, and you will have seen them in names and such that you should have cancelled when running HijackThis). It might not work, but try anyway. It probably won't.

Reboot (making sure you've cancelled the culprits from booting up with Windows load, and also make sure you're protecting the changes using Webroot SpySweeper, and Spybot S&D at the same time if you want).

Immediately after reboot, go and delete those 2 folders. It should work. pwn3d!

Now run all three spyware searching apps again and you're home free.

They finally passed an anti-Spyware bill, with a vote of 451-0. Not sure how much it will deter spyware, but it certainly can't hurt.

If you still have the lop.com thing, you should go to:

http://www.lop.com/help.html#uninstall

You'll see this:

There are several methods available to you should you wish to uninstall any of our software products you had previously chosen to install:

- You can go to your Start Menu--Control Panel, then choose the 'Add / Remove Programs' option. Depending on which version of the software you have installed locate 'Lop.com' or 'LOP SEARCH' or 'Window Searching' or ‘'Window Active' or "Browser Enhancer" or "Ultimate Browser Enhancer" from the menu to run the uninstaller.

- Depending on your version You may also be able to locate a globe type icon in the bottom right hand corner of your screen (near the clock), right click on it then click Menu. From the main menu you will see a help button on the top right hand corner. Click the help button then choose 'uninstall'.

Or you could download this program:

Lop uninstaller

Hope that helps. :)
