i need to take a passage from a book and i have to summarize three qualities that make the passage seem 'particularly excellent.'
problem is i seriously cant find a single book in my house, and you have to pay to read passages online...
can one of you guys out there just throw out a passage from a book that is 'alive with sensory experiences such as sight, sound, taste, touch, smell or intereior feelings?'
any help would be greatly appreciated. the passage can be short, as long as i can write what i have to write.
:D :D :D thanks guys |

So you're looking for passages with a lot of imagery, I guess?
Wouldn't it be a lot better if you'd take the passage from a book you've read so you could elaborate on the relevance of the passage to the contextual imagery construed therein? |

Ok, here's a nice passage from John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath...
[beginning of Chapter 25]
"The spring is beautiful in California. Valleys in which the fruit blossoms are fragrant pink and white waters in a shallow sea. Then the first tendrils of the grapes, swelling from the old gnarled vines, cascade down to cover the trunks. The full green hills are round and soft as breasts. And on the level vegetable lands are the mile-long rows of pale-green lettuce and the spindly little cauliflowers, the gray-green unearthly artichoke plants."
That's visual imagery for ya! Good luck :D |

taken from american psycho.
Elizabeth, naked, running from the bedroom, blood already on her, is moving with difficulty and she screams out something garbled. My orgasm had been prolonged and its release was intense and my knees are weak. I'm naked too, shouting "You bitch, you piece of bitch trash" at her and since most of the blood is coming from her feet, she slips, manages to get up, and I strike out at her with teh already wet butcher knife that i'm gripping in my right hand, clumsily, slashing her neck from behind, severing something, some veins. |
