I'm trying to get ableton live 4.0.3 to work how it should, at least how I think it should. Can anyone tell me how the hell you configure this thing so that I've got the headphone sound coming out normally so i can make sure everything sounds right, and the live output to my speakers so i can hear my perfect mixing.
My other thought is am i thinking about the whole thing totally wrong? Some general enlightenment would be helpful since i've been trying to figure out mixing live for about a week now.
thanks in advance! |

I don't think you can use multiple sound cards with ableton.
What you need is a soundcard with multiple outputs... Then you can assign one of the outputs to the cue function... and you could then assign each channel in ableton to a seperate out on the sound card. It all depends on how many pairs of outputs you have...
I have the same issue as you, my m-audio soundcard in my ozone only has one pair of outs... |

| where did you download ableton live from? lol, ableton doesnt work with multiple sound cards. You need one sound card with multiple outputs |

So lets say that I have a soundcard with two outputs. How would I configure that? Or does ableton become obvious once it detects two outputs?
thanks guys, I really am totally clueless about mixing at this point! |

| you know where it says "audio to" on each channel... that's where you would change it to the other outputs on your soundcard...if you're soundcard had more than one set of outputs. |
