|
You haven't read many of the threads I happen to go to have you. I have neither nitpicked nor bickered. So you and trancebrat now. "Every post I make is negative", "I ruin every thread I post in.", "I nitpick and bicker in every thread I happen to go to."
Those are nice generalizations. Maybe some are true but I definately don't do them in every thread, or even most threads I visit on TA. |

No, are you?
I don't NEED to argue with people...but if somoene wants to reference me I will most likely respond if I know about it. Respond with an argument if I feel like it. I wasn't even going to post in this thread again until you decided to call me out Stanza... |

You said "Most if not all are psy producers". So? What was the point of that? It's all trance. |

| Well from what I've read you looks like you have narrowed down your knowledge only to psy, there is more to trance than just psy... |

No way...listing a bunch of artists means i've narrowed down my knowledge? Is another list what you want? Will this prove one way or another what i've narrowed my knowledge to? Not really:
Union Jack
Electric Skychurch
Commander Tom
Emmanuel Top
Breeder
Castle Trancelott
Clanger
Hardfloor
Poltergeist
Marmion
Cosmic Baby
Arpeggiators
Resistance D
Spicelab
Pulse
Barbarella
Quietman
Dance 2 Trance
Pob
Visions of Shiva
Humate
Microglobe
A lot of repeat people in there, whatever. |

Just curious, but what are you basing this on? And who is "everybody?" |
It was a joke. I hate explaining jokes.
And to ONION - how does being old-school make your opinions better and the tracks you like better than the tracks we like? I've heard my fair share of early 90's music and can safely say trance has evolved and gotten better since. |

Because he was there since the beginning and saw it all as it was happening? He was right though. And so are you in one respect. A large portion of Trance has evolved, but not for the better. Don't feel the need to reply to this post but if you do i'll be glad to respond.
Unless you've been listening to trance since 1995 or earlier you have no frame of reference from which to judge whether the music has evolved for the better or worse. Researching this period can only shed a small light on the experience that someone with the experienc has. |

The whole definition of classics argument is kinda pointless in this thread since the whole purpose of it was to list tunes which you DON'T like or consider a classic, despite others doing so.
Walhalla for instance, I ing hate it and would call it anything but a classic. However loads of people here like it & refer to it as a classic, which is why I mentioned it.
If someone then went on to flame me for listing the tune as a classic I'd be quite amused tbh.. seems what's happened here really |

Is it *really* necessary to understand the history, development and evolution of a type of music in order to have a worthy opinion on it though? Is it such a bad thing taking post-1998 trance at face value and judging it regardless of what pre-1998 trance sounded like? |

What kind of fool statement is that? You can't judge the new without knowing about how it all began. Well you can, but it wouldn't be a very smart decision.
Many people who delve into trance over the last five years just don't realize why it's called trance in the first place. Sure, many of the rhythms and melodies that are produced may send you into a euphoric trance, but initially trance music was about sending you into a hypnotic trance. Psy does this as well.
By not recognizing this fact is how many newbies to trance music don't have a concept of what trance is (or was meant to be, in any event). |

Why would researching grant less insight than hearing the stuff back then? |
