New Mixer Needed (Input Appreciated) - Ecler, A&H

Well a good friend of mine is moving to Fargo, North Dakota for work... I've been using his Pioneer DJM-500 mixer for the past 8 months and now am in need to purchase my own mixer....

I have studio monitors so I need XLR.... I also want the option of the mixer to use 2 Tech 12's and 2 CDJ's, with the possibility to plug in a EFX-500.. I'v been in the market for a new mixer for over a year and have been fortunate to try several mixers playing at clubs... I've narrowed my search down to the Allen & Heath Xone 62 (don't feel that the extra 600 or so is worth the 92, could use that money for other gear).... The other one I'm looking at is the Ecler Nuo 5....

Sound Quality and Quality Build/Durability are my two highest criteria... I like both of these mixers and am just wondering what others here have to say.. We all know how A & H is the rider mixer for guys like Digweed, but Ecler's latest really seems to be top notch... I'm torn... Filters with A & H or reprogramable effects and a butter fader?

There's always this. Nice piece of kit unless you need 4 dedicated channels.

Thats a tough one, the Ecler is a quality mixer, and obviously same with the A&H, do a search for the Xone though, not sure if I heard some people have problems with the send/return feature of that unit, but don't quote me on that.

The Ecler is built with amazing quality and as for sound, its hard to beat for its price, you also might wanna look into Ranes club mixers or the new Denon X1500, I have one and the sound is better than I wanted, it really is crystal clear for me, but for build and sound quality, I don't think you can beat the Xones, plus they have those tasty filters.

Yeah you should really check out the Empath. The effects send/returns are seriously the best on the market. Also this mixer works really well for any type of mixing imaginable. Believe me, once you play w/ one you won't regret it.

I'm sure Trinity has played on all of these mixers, or owned them.... Looking forward to his reply...

i would say the 62....u can prolle get them brand new for 800/900 ...solid build/good sound......

if u want rotary get a vestax pmc 46 mk2 they have close out on this mixer for $579 well built sound isn't good as allen but it a decent piece.......i am not a fan of ecler judging only by the smac 40 which had nice sound but built like a toy IMHO.....i haven't handled the nuo so maybe its built better....for the money the 62 or 46 seem to be the winners for me.

Straight up, the Xone kicks serious ass but then again so does the Ecler so it comes down to a matter of preference. Me, my next mixer will probably be the Ecler. choose which ever one you want you won't be dissapointed with either choice.

you mentioned that you've used the Pionner for some months now..
why don't you consider to buy that one? - not satisfied with it or..?

Just use the Pioneer for now since it's the club standard where I play... I'd personally want an A & H for it's well known sound quality or the Ecler for the MIDI/Reprogrammable Effects/and from what I've read very good sound quality...

I'll just wait till November when the US finally gets the new Ecler Nuo and I'll do a test drive on it :) Your right though Xone or Nuo they are both great choices and I'm sure I'll be happy with either one..

Ste
the allen and heath xone 62 is a vile mixer.
