Does it look like a scam to u guys? is there anyway that i can better secure my money/ transaction? thanx a bunch

Since the auction said bank tranfer only you're basically SOL. I mean, you have to do it because it was listed in the Auction (in bold, none the less).

Funny how the Ebay scammer story is from England, and made all of the money via bank transfers. *shrug* Just an observation.

Tell him you will pay for an escrow service which will wire the money into his account. Youll have to pay a little extra, but you get significant piece of mind.

He seems to have sold the same camera along the same terms and had positive feedback.

An Escrow service is a third-party who becomes the recipient of payment and the object purchased. Thus, you send your payment to them (Along with a fee [a flat rate + an additonal amount dependant on the value of the item purchased]), and the seller likewise sends them the item. The escrow service examines the item to ensure that it is what it was purported to be. Upon confirming this, they then send on the item to you and your payment (with the method you choose) to the seller.

Fees vary intensely from service to service. Be sure to use one that is ceritifed by the Better Bussiness Bureau or you country's equivilant. It may cost a little more, but as Ive said, the security is worth it, especially for a high-value item.

I no longer purchase on ebay without the assistance of an escrow service.

cool, i think i ll do that, $440 for me is a large amount.

if you get his bank details then go to your bank's branch (or phone them) and ask them to wire the money you will not be at risk. they will only send the money you request to send, and the recipient can't get anything from it.

make sure you get a copy of the remittance

bear in mind, this is a method of payment companies world-wide use. at work, when we import goods from europe we always wire the money, so it has to be secure.

Make sure you do your escrow research. Nowadays, even some escrows are scams too!!!

Make sure you use an escrow that has been around for awhile.

i smell a scam. look at the customers that provided feedback. the vast majority have one or two feednback scores, all are pretty recent, and they seem to cover various parts of the globe.

as the mobster boss said in "casino": why take a chance?

don't be swayed by the time element too much. criminals have friends that can post positive feedback and are patient too.

you get screwed then what will you do? sue in hongkong or wherever the guy is? for what, to save a few bucks compared to another more reliable seller on ebay. f'that. depends how risk averse you are. good luck;)

btw update this if you but it. i'm curious to se what happens if you do.

I have always had good luck with Ebay and i think im gonna give it a try to get the camera.Heading to Bank right now to wire the money. WISH ME LUCK!!
