Avalon vs Spirit - Saturday Night

It's been a long friggen time since i went clubbing without going to see a certain DJ and i need a heads up on which place is better. My friends want to go to one of thse places but i havent been to Avalon in years without a good DJ..and Spirit i have never been to..well since Twilo....
So which club is best on Saturday nights....i see JP spins at Spirit so i imagine there is plenty of juicers that piss me off and bridge & tunnel trashy girls that piss my girl off....so i am leaning towards Avalon...
So whats the scoop on both clubs on regular Saturday nights... |

haven't gone to spirit on a saturday night, and certainly not since pvd's SS night... when it all comes down to it, why not choose the dj rather than the club? tho they sometimes go hand in hand |

| Well i would go by just the DJ....but my friends also have a say...my friends are not like me and my girl where we go by the DJs...they go by crowd, atmosphere etc etc...thats why i want info on the whole scene from both places..so i know what to expect...know what i mean. |

hmm well both these clubs arent the greatest of places...but i guess if ur under 21 u dun have much choice...i would prolly choose Avalon -- at least Avalon is getting in some decent talent...i think this Saturday is TALL PAUL...actually decent. ill take that over KTU ne day...
but 21+ def CrobAR, David Waxman is a pretty good resident DJ
make sure to make it 2 Avalon next Saturday for FERRY!!! :D |

omg... Spirit over Avalon any day.
you say you havent been to avalon in "years", so obviously you've only been there when it was Limelight. you are in for an awakening if you are going to "Avalon" for the first time. you'll be majorly disappointed. Spirit - no, its not what Twilo used to be, but i personally would still have a better time there. I would still choose based on the DJ, but if you dont have a preferance between who is spinning at either, i vote for Spirit. |

Ya i am not going for any DJs...i mean i am going for music but i know both places have no good DJs Saturday...so the decision is based purely on atmosphere, club size and all that fun stuff....
I also don't want to feel like a sardine..so def the place that has the most breathing room...i have no desire to re-live the Exit days with the packed crowds....
They re-did Spirit i heard...is it bigger then Twilo was.... |

NOPE they cut the size down its def a LOT smaller...and the crowd sucks its the old SF/Draper crowd -- and ive heard stories of
Avalon def has the breathing room..on the 2nd floor that is...and mebbe in other rooms on the first floor (not the main floor tho since that is def gonna be crowded as hell) |

lol it depends on what u like...if u like KTU u'll go to Spirit...well spirit HAD potential until the djs/crowd came back, thats for sure...
damns it sux about the state of NYC nightlife...:( :( what poor choices... |

Actuallu this is my opinion.
I have been to Avalon but only for events and that place was pure torture ...they def like to pack in the crowd.
I have not been to Spirit but I have heard good things, like its nice a cool and I kind of think kind of like Soundfactory because JP spins there on Saturday night/Sunday Mornings. ( I do not know if you consider this good or bad)
I know where you are coming from because I do not go to club just to go anymore...its like DJ or nothing...

| Now if you and your girl know what to expect at Spirit for JP, and neither of you like the idea, why would you go. Ill admit Avalon isnt exactly good. Why dont you just go to Crobar? |

Cus my friends want to go to either Avalon or Spirit...if it was up to me i would stay in, watch the Yankee game and cuddle with my girl...but uit's not up to her or i...we are basically entertaining our friends who wanna go clubbing..even though i told them NYC club scene died with Twilo...
So i have no choice except for these 2....:( |
