Microsoft's Halo 2 Video Game Leaked on Internet

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Halo 2, the sequel to Microsoft Corp.'s MSFT.O best-selling game for its Xbox video console, has leaked onto the Internet nearly four weeks before its planned sale, the world's largest software maker said on Friday.
"Microsoft has learned that a version of 'Halo 2' has been posted to various newsgroups and web sites," Carlos de Leon, Xbox group product manager, said in an e-mailed statement, "We consider downloading this code or making it available for others to download as theft."
Microsoft, which is investigating the leak, said that it would stick to its November 9 launch date for Halo 2.
Hit game titles, and their often successful sequels, are crucial for video game makers such as Microsoft and Sony Corp. 6758.T since they help drive sales of consoles and in turn other games. Bungie, the Microsoft-owned developers of the original "Halo," has sold more than 4 million units since its November 2001 release.
The pirated copy of Halo 2 was a French language version that could be downloaded and burned onto a DVD disc. Half-life 2 and Doom 3, other popular games, have also been pirated before their release. |

Wouldnt matter if its leaked or not. I still have my preorder for the special editon of halo2. And also i think there's already more than a million pre-orders for this game.
If i were to steal a game, it would be from someone's house! The real deal at least. bwhahaha! |

| Errr... We'll on top of it being French, it's also a PAL release. I dont know too much about a modded x-box but would one be multi-region capable? |

somewhat OT: I saw a commercial for Halo 2 at the movie theatre the other night (helluva place to see it, huh?) and I have to say: it looks really cool. Might just have to go get an XBox if it doesn't come out for PC anytime soon.
I swear the kid sitting next to me was going to have an orgasm during that commercial - I've never seen someone so excited over a video game in my life! :wtf: :stongue: |

Nope! No inhibitions it would seem - he was just talking to his friend when I realized he started breathing really heavily and saying 'Omigod' over and over. He would point at scenes and say 'whoa!...' still heavily breathing. I would expect this sort of weirdness from a 12 or 13 year-old I guess, but I was in there to see 'Saw', so he had to be at least 17. :wtf: :stongue: :stongue: |
