Why haven't I ever heard them before? I just acquired the "Leftism" album for some small bucks and it's totally WHOOOOAH.
Songs like Melt and Space Shanty... :eyes:
It's like a bag of candy. |

Because you're a newb, obviously.
Leftfield rock- check out Rhythm & Stealth as well. Massive shame that they split up after only two albums. |

At the very most I'm a semi-newbie. Is the second album as good as the first?
*edit: newbie, not noob. |

| They're very different, so it's all down to taste. R&S is much more break-beat. |

Not really to my tastes then. Good thing. I might buy it later, but now I'm very broke. ALL thanks to that little "yeees, buy that CD, you CAN afford it, you'll just have to live on water and bread the rest of the month" voice in my head. |

R&S draws more on their hiphop/reggae influences, whereas Leftism is more techno-oriented. You'll always find a certain amount of both on both albums though. ("Phat Planet" for instance is a good example of that, standing alongside tracks like "Chant Of A Poor Man" and "Dusted"). Paul Daley did an Essential Mix in 96 or 97 which is brilliant, too.
I also consider myself lucky to be one of those who caught Leftfield live before they split up. :) I can still remember it quite vividly. |
