| I have just got one of these and I have a question. When I move the side spinny part of the jog dial forward or backwards, is it supposed to move the tune backwards or forwards. All I can seem to do is to slow the track down by putting pressure on the top of the dial. |

Hopefully I got this right, but when in Vinyl mode, the side is like the side of a deck platter, if you move it forward or backwards, it bends the sound in that direction, the more you move it the more bending there is, and as for the top part, you touch it and the track will stop, I dunno what its like in CDJ mode as I don't think I have ever used it in that mode.
and so you know, you bend the pitch to slightly speed the track up or down to get the beats in sync after the BPM is matched. |

| mine doesn't do anything when I move the platter. Do I have to do anything other than put it in 'vinyl' mode to activate this wheel? |

outside wheel always acts as a pitch bend.
in vinyl mode, top wheel acts as a vinyl emulator, but you can get it to act like a pitch bend as well, as long as you don't press down on it. like speeding up a record by touching the label - only it also works to slow it down.
in CDJ mode, the top wheel is a pitch bend, just like the outside one. |

| Thanks, but do you have to apply pressure to this side wheel. If I rotate it 'freestyle' it does nothing. If I apply pressure it stops. Is the pitch bend noticable? bbeing used to vinyl I hear a definitive slowing or acceleration of the record. If the pitch bend on this pioneer is doing anything it is very hard to hear. |

| well, it does make a difference; perhaps you just don't hear it, there is the possibility you are using Master Tempo whilst correcting, which can cause perhaps not to identify the speed up or slow down. Master Tempo eleminates pitch changes, yet it does still let you "tempo bend" |

CDJ mode: wheel used for pitch bend, doesnt matter where you touch it.
VINYL mode: used to scratch when u spin it while ur fingers are on the top of the wheel. when ur fingers are touching the wheel on the sides, its used to pitch bend. |

That's probably it. Try turning off the master tempo and do a pitch bend. You should be able to hear a speeding up or slowing down. There is nothing wrong with your CD player, otherwise, you wouldn't be able to use the vinyl emulation. |

you probs wont hear it, its so smooth and sublte o nthe 800 and 1000 jogwheels it owuld be hard to hear it i think. |

| Thanks for all the help, it was a faulty unit, the platter was spinning but not doing anything - straight out the box ! I now have one that works. I hope it is reliable??? |

| Ha! I was just about to say, sounds like faulty equipment. Even with the Master Tempo on, you should still hear the bend. |
