Ok... time for my official review. I'm still in awe over Mauro's set, that I don't even know where to begin. I guess I'll start from the begining of the night.
First of all, wtf is up with that stupid VIP area they have now? It makes people who aren't up there feel like they are inferior. I had a wristband, but I only went up there 2 times... once to say hi to Mauro before his set, and once to say bye to him. The sound quality is so ty up there, that it's ridiculously obvious that the people who stay up there just want to look "cool" and "important".
Anyway, Josh Wink sucked. His set was boring. He played a couple cool songs here and there, but I wasn't feeling his set at all. I was in anticipation for Mauro to start. Mauro was supposed to start at 2am. 2:15am came by, and Wink finished spinning... but where the hell was Mauro???? The crowd was already dieing down. Then Dave came on and spun a pumping set, but the crowd was giving up... so by 3am, the club wasn't as full. About 3:15am, Mauro FINALLY came on.
Anyone who missed this night, missed Mauro at his 100% best.
Let me tell you guys, this was the BEST set I have ever experienced, by any DJ, ever!!!!!! His sets haven't been that hard this past year, but he played a BANGING set, from start to finish. Not even one dull moment! I think our "HARDER" signs had something to do with that. ;)I know our signs made him feel awesome, and it gave out a positive energy to him... :D He kept smiling at us, giving us the thumbs up, and he threw meganite keychains to us!!! Mauro is the Man!!!!!!!
Here are some songs I specifically remember him playing:
Mauro Picotto - Tao Tek
Mauro Picotto - Dark Room (he wouldn't have played it if it wasn't for our signs)
Mauro Picotto - New Time New Place (wtf was that remix? It ing ROCKED!!):eyespop:
Mauro Picotto - Tell Me Something
Mauro Picotto- Like This Like That (some new SICK remix)
Mario Piu- Mathmos (ing CLASSIC. hasn't played this since 2001/2002)
Chris Liebing - String Theory (Mauro Picotto mix)
Marco Bailey - Meditation
He also played a few songs from that set Live @ Palace Hungary, and many songs that I didn't recognize!!! :D I wish he played Thomas Brinkmann - Lovesong. I've been wanting to hear that song live!!
It was such a shame that Mauro started so late in the night. Avalon and Club Crasher are idiots. If Mauro played earlier in the night, he would have kept the crowd in. The bad weather and Wink's boring set had alot to do with the crowd. Infact, if Mauro wasn't playing on saturday night, I would have left an hour into Wink's set. But the true music fans stayed till the very end.
I can't waitttt to see Mauro again!!! :D :D :D :D :D |

I just want to add that I have seen MANY techno DJ's... from Jeff Mills, to Sven Vath, Chris Liebing, Gabry Fasano, Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Ritchie Hawtin... and no one satisfies my cravings the way Mauro does. He ing ROCKS!!!!!!! He has his own unique style that no other techno DJ can duplicate.
This saturday was total ing Annihilation!!!!!!!!!!!! MIND to the extreme!!!!!!!!! :disbelief
WTF am I gonna do when Mauro stops DJing? AHHHHH!!! Someone needs to clone Mauro.... ASAP!!!! LOL |

| holy crap! i thought woody was techno-junkie! anyway thanks to julia for recommending i go to Mauro, i dont think i would have had as much fun at Ferry...he's an awesome dj and i've seen him a few times before...but GOD DAMN Mauro rocked. i was so tired the next day, and while i was at work i just kept reliving the previous night heh. and i agree with tarek i thought josh wink did an awesome job as well...nothing like a little "acid techno" to spice up the night! |

| Wink just didn't do it for me... but I guess it was mostly because I was waiting for Mauro to start. Avalon & Crasher totally ed up. If they were smart, they wouldn't have Mauro play at 3:30am. |

| keep in mind that there has to be a build up thru out the night, the opening DJ cant play hard stuff and then have the closing dj bore everyone do death, its bad DJ etiquette.... as it gets later....the music should get harder.....thats probably also part of the reason why his set was sooo banging hard....which i loved btw!! |

| i agree with julia tho...having mauro come on that late was disappointing...if he had come on at 2 or at least 2.30 i could have enjoyed more of his set...stupid having to go to work. oh and the drive was quite crappy for me on the way home...raining really hard, i could barely see :( |
