every year they host a New Talent Tent. This year they chose 15 DJs from 100+ demo mixes, and I was lucky enuf to be one of them.

I got owned by technology tho. There were tech probs for the first two sets by Dj Candy Kid and Basstrixx... but when I came on, hit the fan. Not to say tech was completely to blame, but it got me so damn frustrated that I did some REALLY stupid things. They whole time I was just wishing I could be on my bedroom setup.

But, I think everyone's first live gig is like that, it's the only way you learn to deal with on the fly.

my advice?

1. post on TA, a LOT, and make connections with the promoters (there are a lot of them on TA). While this hasn't actually gotten me any gigs yet, I do have some great connections in the industry through TranceAddict, that will help me a lot in the future.

2. post on TA, A LOT!!!!!!!!!!! Once again, post and read as much as you can. It's the definitive trance community. A lot of great artists read around here, and I've been turned on to some undiscovered tracks that are incredible.

3. Try to get a spot on the WEMF lineup. Spinning @ the New Talent stage this year was a great experience, not only because I got to play, but also because I had a level two pass. It was awesome to be up on stage watching Mark Oliver or Madam Zu mix. I met a lot of really cool people and built some wickid connections.

4. Get a slot on AmpRadio. Barry (Dj Ampz) runs the show, and gets quite a few listeners, great for getting your name out!

I'll think of more later...

my brother is like 12 and i took him to wemf.
he lost it because everyone asked him if he wanted to do acid or e, or smoke some weed, than do some coke.

he freaked out and now he's becoming a preist.

how long have you been spinning for and what was the setup like at wemf?
