Actually, from many tests that Psychologists have done proven that if you study BEFORE you fall asleep, that you'll get more out of it. See, when you fall asleep, you brain goes over what you've just done in your head, so when your fall asleep after studying, you're actually STUDYING while you sleep, whereas in the morning, you're stressed out and trying to study real fast, nothing is absorbed and you actually end up forgetting things much easier. But that's just tested Psychological theories, you don't have to listen to those, you can listen to the losers on TA instead. :D

Too late! My bet is that he has already gone to sleep. He wont be reading this untill the morning & by that stage it will be too late.

he should have done it before bed. can always sleep in class tommorrow. or at worst show up late to hand the assignment in.

Why do today what you can still do tommorow :haha:

But 2b kinda serious: I would do it before you went too sleep because It's going to bother you if you don't and you'll probrably ask yourself the same question the next time :)

Isnt it possible to beat this system by providing a number of things to associate with key facts when you study? I do this alot with music where I relate a song to what I am reading at that time; additionally I can sometimes reelate aspects of a song to aspects of a topic depending on my knowledge and familiarity with each. The point is while there are several psychological trends underlying human kind's existence, it is still possible to buck them and/or make them work for you.

You're not really "beating the system" so much as employing an additional technique for memory retention. If you study in the morning but use good memory retention techniques, you might do as well if you had studied the night before and not used those techniques. But you won't do as well as if you had studied the night before and had used those techniques.

In my experience, whenever I come across that problem I always end up doing both or neither... which never really works to be fair.

now. get it over with. you'll be happy you did.

The best way to study is to set yourself up in an environment that you will be taking the test in as well. I know this might not apply to homework so much (studying sort of IS homework, though), but if you set yourself up in a relaxed atmosphere when you study, you are more likely to remember what it is that you studied when the testing environment is the same/similar to the one you studied in. What I mean is, if you are going to be panicked for time during the test, panic yourself for time when you study - if you are going to be relaxed during the test, relax during your studying - you'll be much more likely to remember memorized facts that way.

As for essay tests and the like? You just have to be gifted, I guess ;)

^^^^^ i was just gonna post that:) that's the best way. sit at a table, in a chair, with lots of lighting, like when you're in class. that's how to get the most out of your memory when studying.
