HERE IT IS FOR YOU
Internet = Good for "Low involvement" products
- eg food (groceries), electronics, CDs, Books, Music, VINYL! etc
because these products are consistent, you know exactly what you are getting and product attributes are the most important thing,
Internet = Bad for "High involvement" products
- eg Furniture, Cars, Clothes (most of the time) etc
People have a significat emotional attachment or consideration in these products, and they want to "feel" the product and see how it looks, if it is comfortable etc. The tangible qualities are important. |

| also you have to wait a little bit before you get your hands on what you ordered...it takes the fun of the purchase sometimes..shipping & handling is the pain cause they deliver when u r at work and so you have to go pick it up from a specific location. |

Suprised no one mentioned this one yet.
Pro - Internet shops are open 24/7, whereas normal shops aren't. |

Ah crap, forgot about that.
Some more advantages of shopping on the net:
* Shopping can be more convenient and faster
* Prices and offerings can change instantaneously
* Commodity-like products work best, digital products (software etc)are best of all
* Global reach - can reach customers all over the world
* An important one for the retailer is that they can built customer databases with personal details etc using Customer Relationship Management Systems (CRM)
For example, Amazon groups people together according to purcashes and buying behaviour, and then makes recommendation based on that group. I can't remember what this is called though. |
