Way too many internet pacifist on this board if you ask me. Nothing wrong in a little rumble from time to time to spice things up and get people to come out and say what's really on their mind. A good heated debate is infintely better then the collective voice of a herd of sheep all going "BAAAAAAAH".
It's like a pickup game of basketball, of course there's going to be times when you'll feel there's someone taking a cheap shot, it's all good -- take the hit, and give em one of your own... just remember the unwritten rule though, " what happens on the court, stays on the court"
an everything else is just gravvy. :D |

the problem is that people on here look to TOTA for different things. some people come here to discuss music, some people come here to discuss events, some people come here to use it as a personal blog, some people come here to post funny stuff, and some people come here to discuss everything that the government is doing to piss them off and take away they freedom, and there is also those people that post here just to be arguementative on every point which someone else makes.
these different interests are the root cause of people getting lippy.
if i want to discuss parties and events, i really don't want to here for the 3000000000000000 X how the liberals are ruining canada, or how to pick up Asian chicks. |

yes, i agree with this. it really pisses me off to no end when so many people choose to pass judgement on those that are actually making an effort to rid this board of stupidity.
posts like "you shouldn't be arguing about this or that", or "just ignore what they say" are really part of the problem, IMO. to stand for some sort of standard is not a bad thing. all you pacifists should really take a look at what you are allowing this board to become. and if you are a pacifist, why even comment at all? just STFU. |

Good luck trying trying to get that message across to the people who are actually making you mad. Ultimately you'll just find yourself repeating your grievances which in essence will make you no better then the people who you have rightly said only come here to make the same point over and over again.
Ain't no such thing as a utopian message board forum...there will also be trolls lurking in the shadows. Luckily the trolls round here aren't really that vicious -- just retarded, disgruntled, oversexed (or is it that they actually don't get any ?) and prone to bouts of repeativism. :D
Since this is a public forum, you can engage them directly -- or opt to use the ignore button which works just as well. Asking to ban anyone for experessing an opinion, no matter how dumb or irrelevant it is, just makes us all look like babies, IMHO.
So is using the excuse that because of some undesirable posters, you are being forced to post here less often. Do we really have such thin skins ? Come on people, life's a lot more cruel then what we see here. Getting our panties in this much a twist just reveals our own weaknesses when it comes to ignoring these fools. |

i personally do not feel overwhelmed by the 'bad blood' here, i think there are some really great threads(opinions, arguments), and people are bound to disagree.
sure some of us get hot and bothered by a few things, and may post a negative comment or two, but i dont feel its out of hand. |

I agree. TOTA would quite frankly be boring if there weren't people around whose toes you wanted to light on fire while they were busy making some of their brilliant posts.
I've only seen a few cases of hate spewing through the posts people have made here, and believe it or not, those people aren't the one's you'd think of first...
And in fairness, i think some people are singled out for their off topic posts, whereas others are allowed to get away with it. I'll admit i have been vocal about getting jayx1 and diabolic to post in other relavant sections of this board in the past. Something i have now I realized is pointless. More importantly though, it is also hypocritcal when you take into consideration that other people who I might get along with, or know in real life were basically doing the same thing.
Parity has to be maintained even when it comes to condemnation. Sadly, that won't happen given the clickey nature of this forum. |

i think "off topic" posts should be expected, and are completly reasonable. If people were only allowed to discuss music, or music related topics, then people on TOTA would not be as close as they are.
I think people here have found many new friends because they were able to bond around other aspects of their life, but were brought here because of music. And to restrict intelligent(for the most part) people to just one topic, is useless. The human brain needs to go out strech its legs and evolve. If we were just kept to music, things would get borning fast! |

I think that people take themselves way too seriously. Typing on the internet and not saying things face to face and not hearing the sarcasm or inflections in people's voice contributes to the whole thing too.
There's people on this board who I may disagree with re: politics or issues, but I've actually had some really intelligent and productive conversations/arguments...people like MarkT, Malek, or JayX1 for instance may not see eye to eye with me, and vice versa...but things are always civil, it's good to challenge each other.
Again, it's all about not taking yourself too seriously and resorting to slander, insults, and other ad hominums, especially when you feel passionately about something. If you do, then you've already lost the argument IMO. |

Exactly. Some people just cant take it when they disagree with something. Instead of either ignoring it or trying to discuss it they would rather it go away. There are millions of threads on here that i dont ever click on. I suggest the same for others. |
