They're going to stop maintenance of Hubble :(

Seeing those images almost brings a tear to my eye. I doubt I will get to see such things with my eyes in this lifetime - I suppose dreams will have to suffice. ;)

Looking at these pictures shows the scale of human life is miniscule compared to the rest of the known universe.

As Carl Sagan once said "...we are all made of stardust..."

Absolutely. I can't bring up the sources, but I read once that a laboratory at a Chicago University experimented with miniature ecosytems - they basically determined that our particular atmosphere (Earth  ) is pretty much what is needed for life to flourish and evolve at our level of understanding and continuum. So there's set ingredients that will yield life...

Out of all the BILLIONS of planets out there, the chance that not one of them is almost exactly like Earth is extremely low. Kinda makes you wonder if somebody, somewhere, in some far-off reach of the Universe is wondering if they'll ever get to see a being from another planet someday.

Astrosciences will make it happen. this middle-East crap - we've got more important things to do! :whip: :p

WHOA! light takes millions of years to travel? no way!!! so your saying that i turned on my light MILLIONS of years ago, and it looked like it turned on in 1/3902830921830122304832094832 of a second? damn, what drugs did i take to make life go so fast. :stongue: :stongue: :stongue: :stongue: :stongue: :stongue:

If we could travel near the speed of light, a month would probably feel like an hour, and we would only age an hour. Just as an example, the effect would be more dramatic. This makes it possible for humans to actually visit distant stars, but by the time we went there and came back............everyone and everything would have died...:D
