You said it,"She has a boyfriend." Sounds like you are setting yourself up for a world of pain. If you think its worth all that pain that you may get (odds are you will), to break up another relationship (for your own self interest), to cause friction between you and your friend, then go for it.
But even though you may think that there are no other wonderful girls, then you are way off. Play the odds out there. I had a friend who would ask maybe twenty girls out at a club. This guy was not suave, but he played the odds, and eventually he would be successful. I suggest you do the same. Don't try to conquer on girl at a time (serial dating). Try five, six, ten, or more at a time. Eventually you will discover someone as special, if not more, without incurring the heartache that this girl will only bring, and screwing up your relationship with your friend.

Nah, that's not it at all. It's just that these guys know what they're doing. They don't treat the girl like total from the beginning, they gradually work their way into it.
Sadly it's the most reliable way to keep a girlfriend. |

Conjecture: Maybe some of you could hold down meaningful relationships if you didn't have the 'all girls are whores and they will just you over eventually' mentality. Get over it, already. There are people in this world who will use you and there's not much you can do about it, short of cutting yourself off from everybody - and if you do that, you're never going to enjoy a whole lot that life has to offer. So just put yourself out there, wear your cup, and take it like the bitch you are :stongue:
I wouldn't recommend getting to be good friends with this girl if you have desires to be something more for/to her in the future. I know what it's like to finally meet someone who makes you realize that you are looking for something in this world, so you really sort of have to be careful not to things up. :haha:
Becoming her best friend = good chance it's ed up
Beating up her current boyfriend = good chance it's ed up unless she's one of those girls who seriously likes overly-aggressive males (do they even exist? probably not worth dating anyways :rolleyes: )
Don't worry about your friend - you'd forgive him if he went out with her, right? Don't over-deify this dating thing either - prescribed methods for mating rituals are not the end-all for a relationship. Personally, I find it much more fulfilling getting to know a person over time and events than just asking questions over dinner because 'that's just what you do on a date'. |
