Stanton Warriors aren't that great so why wont you folks stop trippin' about them ;) When it comes to nu-skool breaks maybe plays them better than BLIM, Uberzone, Rennie Pilgrem, ILS, Ken Kenobi, Koma & Bones :D That's internationally ofcourse. Our local hereos can just do as much damage as them or even more :D
Meat Katie & Phil K are the definition of bad-ass DJ's, these guys can put on some serious damage. Toronto needs them back :sadgreen: |
To each their own. But because you dont like them doesnt mean they suck. I dont like tiesto but he DOES suck LOL |

| I've listened to their EM long ago. Their ok but aint nuttin special. Their the most commercialized duo from UK, other than Plump DJ's. The Plump's are a lot better though then them. |

| That's pretty cool though, how do you you produce? Do you have a turntable? Most I've ever done was play around a bit in SoundForge. |

HAHAH...stop scratching the shine off the staton warriors, you ! :p Those boys know how to damage a breaks set with their samples, and you know it. Yeah, the breaks aren't as dirty or tribally as Koma and Bones or Pilgrem, but I quite like Staton warrior sound because of it's fusion with hip hop. Not my favorite, but their finally getting the recognition for consitently putting out good tracks. Their EM was aight ... nothing spectacular or anything. ( that award currently goes to Dave Seamen for his last EM IMHO -- )
To the thread starter :
I find breaks is an aquired taste when it comes to electronic music, because unlike the 4/4 beat found in trance, house and techno tracks, which is very natural to dance and pump your fist in the air too, breaks has a lot more layers and variations of sounds. A lot of breaks tracks also draws influence from hip hop and funk styles, which is not common with trance.
While a trance song will have you raising your arms in the air when it reaches a breakdown, and have you pumping your fist in the air when the beat kicks in, a breaks track will have you busting some seriously funky moves if you start to pick up the breaks. |
