No, this isn't a joke.

Apparently Iran is yet to see "anything good from Democrats", and are concerned that Democrats tend to worry about such pesky things like Human Rights -- and as such, they'll be supporting W. :stongue: |

THE re-election of US President George W Bush would help in the war on terror, Prime Minister John Howard said last night.
Mr Howard, fresh from talks with Indonesian president-elect Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, said he was hopeful Mr Bush would win his race against Democrat challenger John Kerry.
"I wish him well and I hope he gets re-elected," he told reporters.
"I certainly think George Bush has given great leadership to the world fight against terrorism. I think he's been a very strong leader in that fight.
"I hope he wins."

Looks like the story is another bogus AP creation. Iran didn't endorse either Kerry or Bush. But why the hell should we care?

Kerry or Bush, makes no difference to us: Iran
AFP: 10/19/2004
TEHRAN, Oct 19 (AFP) - It makes no real difference to Iran whether US President George W. Bush or Democrat contender John Kerry wins the presidential elections, a senior Iranian official said Tuesday.
"It makes no difference for us which of the two parties wins the elections," Iran's top national security official Hassan Rowhani said in an interview on state television.
"We have not seen any good coming from the Democrats, so we won't be happy if the Democrats win," he said.
"Also we should not forget that most sanctions and economic pressures were imposed on Iran during Clinton's administration," Rowhani added, referring to former president Bill Clinton.
The official said a victory in next month's elections for Bush and the Republicans would also not have much impact on the Islamic republic, arch-foe of the United States.

| ^^ Probably just a follow up story when Iran realized that by endorsing Bush, they were actually hurting his chances more than they were helping him. |
