I translated the text:

"The Crown Price of Trance"

Internationally in 2003, he held his ground above many other big-name DJs but these sorts of lists say little about Armin himself. Perhaps that has something to do with his modesty. "Does this make me a better DJ than some of the masters, like Carl Cox? How can you make any comparison?" As for whether one DJ is better than another, it's difficult to say, but the Dutch public has spoken and has put Armin at number 3 this year.

Are we surprised by the results? Not at all. When someone, besides Tiesto, makes such an dramatic impact on trance music, such as this trance master from Leiden, then you have someone who certainly deserves this sort of ranking. In the past years, it's become more and more clear that Armin is a real authority in trance music. His career began with such legendary productions like "Blue Fear" and "Communication". Beyond this, his "A State of Trance 001 through 004" compilations and more recently, "Universal Religion" have taken the trance world by storm. Then came his solo production album, "76", a collaboration with pop artist Ray Wilson. But what really has pushed Armin to the top of his class is his weekly radio show, "A State of Trance". A programme he's produced on his own since 2001, first broadcast of cable radio, and now on Dutch airwaves via ID&T, listened to religiously by thousands of fans, all following his latest selections of trance and progressive records.

Since the founding of Armada Records, together with former head Dance A&R for Warner Music Maykel Piron, Armin has begun to take other artists under his wing. Young DJs, such as Perry O'Neill, but also veterans, such as Remy, have benefitted from the label as a springboard to the international scene. Many successful releases on the Armada label, along with all of the tours supporting them, are likely huge contributing factors to Armin's rise two places on this DJ list since last year.

Where Armin really shines is with his fan interaction. Not to say that other DJs don't have healthy interaction with their fans, but Armin takes this to a whole other level. Feedback on his setups, track selection, and everything else that goes along with it. Same for his website, and in his chatroom, where during the broadcast of "A State of Trance", hundreds of trance fanatics from all around the world gather together to discuss everything to do with the show and trance in general. Despite Armin's international fame, he's not larger than life. And that's exactly what makes him so special. His status and his fan feedback shines through in every party that Armin and his associates organise. A prime example of this is his new Sunday evening residency at Ibiza's famed Amnesia club, which has turned into an "Armada Night".

Similarities with Ferry Corsten and Tiesto are quickly spotted. These guys are inextricably intertwined with the world of trance, but as well with Armin van Buuren. As harmonious as the music itself, these masters of trance all worked together in the formative years of their respective careers, afterwards going their separate ways. Ferry Corsten, Tijs Verwest, and Armin van Buuren could be called the "Flying Dutchmen", as they each wait in a airport boarding room, in some far-off country. One of them on their way to Asia, the other waiting for a connecting flight to his next stop on a North American tour. Thanks to the (for the time being) untouchable Tiesto, a lot of Armin fans will be disappointed until their hero reaches the number one spot. But we won't hear any complaints from Armin, as he doesn't care for such comparisons.
