i think flame wars can be funny sometimes but there is a difference between being allowed to post on any topic and showing no repsect or compassion for other people.
and yes, i think mods need to babysit this forum to stop some of the drama. |

The best way to prevent drama is to stop people from bringing drama from their personal lives onto the forum. This is the chill out room, not the support group room so when you're in here you should probably take one of these:

i got that impression from some comments you have made that you have a problem with the personal problems people bring up in this forum.
personally, i actually like reading those threads. and if you dont like reading the thread, you can not post in it or even not read it. no one is forcing you to be an .
this forum has helped me a lot in the past when i have had problems because there were a lot of people here who had similar issues and were able to give me good advice.
apparently the COR is here so people can post on general topics and to me that means they are free to post their personal problems if they want to. i dont think you, arbiter, have the authority to decide if a thread is stupid or not. |

Well you probably read some comments of mine where I wasn't being serious. I don't have a problem with it at all. If people want to post their personal baggage - of all places - in the "chill out" room, that's fine with me. But if they also expect everyone to approach their problem with sensitive, somber counsel then they quite simply have unrealistic expectations.

You're right, I can choose not to read the thread. But I can also choose to read the thread and then do what the description of the chill out room suggests and "talk about what's on your mind." If someone doesn't like what I have to say, then they're more than welcome to ignore it. No one is forcing them to read it or reply to it.

I'm glad you've found helpful advice here before. I try to give useful advice to people from time to time if I feel like it, although I personally have no inclination to seek advice here.

Well whether a thread is stupid or not is really just a matter of opinion, and I have all the authority I need to decide whether or not my opinion is that the thread is stupid. And being as the COR is a place for people to "talk about what's on your mind," sometimes I'm inclined to share that opinion with other members of the forum, much the same way that the original poster was inclined to share his personal story with the rest of the forum. |

the support/advice room hasn't been created (yet) simply because they don't want to subdivide COR. so yes, it belongs here. and yes, it gets a bit annoying to see every advice thread getting into a big argument because of you, regardless of the (eventual) stupidity of the thread |

The COR is already subdivided between the main room and the Frequently Asked Questions / Tutorials / How do I? forum. |
