Communism is something that is greatly misunderstood. When you say 'communist' people automatically think of Stalinist Russia. That isn't communism. It was labelled communist, but didn't share many characteristics with communist ideology. Furthermore, western capitalist countries identified Russia under Stalin, etc. as communist in an attempt to instil fear into people and to get them to reject outright something without them actually understanding what they were supposed to be opposing.
People should do a bit of research on it (instead of consuming McCarthiest tripe without reservation) before branding communists "bastards". |
