Playing More than 1 patch at once on the Virus-C

I have midi notes in 2 different tracks in my sequencer (Logic Audio 5.5) And I can get sound to play on one of the midi tracks for my Virus....But the 2nd track Im not sure how to get this to play at the same time as the other channel plays sound as well.

I would like 2 Virus patches playing at once on 2 different midi channels.

Im not sure which section in the manual covers this cuz Im not sure what it's really called yet.. But if anyone knows which page in the manual shows how this is done it would be equally helpful.

Thanx..

have a look at the Multi/Single section in the manual.. -> you have to load multi patches to different midi channels..

yeah man you can get 16 of those beastly mama's going all at once. press MULTI and SINGLE simultaneously and load up those patches :eyes:

I'm 101 % sure the manual covers this. Check for multi-mode edit

Yup... it does - I actually spent a substantial amount of time on that section, and let me tell ya!! You can setup one patch that does a drum with a particular arp pattern, next, you setup another one to do your baseline, then you do your pad, and you do your lead - I made some killer patches that way! Keep in mind that number of OSC's and voices will obvously drop. Also the filtering 4 pole or 6 pole will cut your voices too. On virus C, you can theoreticaly stack about 5 voices and still manage a decent patch. Anytime thereafter, you get drop outs and muddiness. Also, mucking around with them gets confusing if you're not paying attention to which patch you're working on. Setup MIDI tracks in your DAW to correspond to your patches (midi ch1,2,3, etc) and record while you're tweaking, this way if you goof up one of the patches, you can roll it back hit play in DAW and you got your patch back. Hit save ;)

Thanx for the suggestions I really appreciate it.

I was able to get 3 tracks playing simultaneously using the Virus, tracks 4-16 wouldn't play.

Also everytime I turn my computer off and return to my sequencer, my midi interface's (emagic amt8) software needs to be reinstalled everytime. It is hooked up through a USB port on my computer, which has 4 different USB ports. And the same problem continues everyday now no matter which USB port I choose. It will work fine for the day, but after the computer has been shut down overnight, when I return to my sequencer the AMT8 software needs to be reinstalled again.

And yesterday when midi was working I tried to bounce 1 of the Virus-C's midi tracks down to an open Audio slot. The volume that I could hear and the levels on my mixer looked right. But the volume that was actually recorded was significantly lower, the level was unusable really. It was very quiet but when just playing the midi notes that controlled the Virus-C's patches it played nice and loud.

My setup is a little buggy to say the least, but this is the first few days using this configuration so it's mostly about problem solving at the moment. I'll be happy to move beyond this asap if anyone can assist me I would be really grateful. Thanks again!

try updating your drivers for the MIDI interface, update the firmware on your MOBO and finally, you might want to download USB update from Microsoft. But I think the drivers for midi interface should be the first ones. when all else fails, re-install OS ;).

One other thing about recording levels - make sure you set volume in only one spot - makes things easier. I usualy make sure my synths have a constant set volume, the interface is set on a constant volume, just operate the volume controls within DAW app - this way you only have one place to troubleshoot. (well, almost) ;)

I didnt have problems installing the amt8 using xp professional. Just instal the drivers and everything works fine. It does show an icon with remove hardware every time I produce with computer but just ignore that.
