Saving samples

If a sample from a online record store is mp3 format, I can save them and keep them for future reference.

Now if a sample is .raw or .rw I can't get it to save, on some sites files save automaticaly to my Temp internet folder and I can get them there, but mostly they don't (eg. Chemical records samples) How can I download and save these?

I find it very helpfull to listen to samples a few times, before I make my mind up whether songs are worth it or not to buy, I would have liked to have these samples available offline.

Btw Is it legal to keep samples? (prob not I'm thinking there might be some law or something)

the formats you are talking about are more often than not just links to a location on the internet, from which the music streams from. in the case of chemical records, the only real way of saving the samples is by ripping them as you play them using a wave editor to record, although this kind of defeats the object as you have to listen to them to rip them, as opposed to clicking loads of links and then coming back later to listen to them all.

as far as i know, there isn't any legal issues with doing this. the samples are often poor quality and only 1 - 3 mins long. its not as if you are going to use them as your master copy of a tune.

Thanks, I thought about recording them,

With chem it used to be that the .ram files auto download into your temp internet files, they don't do that anymore.

I find chem have the best samples to listen to, most places only have samples that are totally useless for making ones mind up whether a song is worth buying or not.
