the future

I was just watching I,Robot.. and it really made me think. We are very dependant on technology, and AI Isn't that far off in the future. This movie really makes you think... could this be the future?

The movie is a bit matrix-esque though. the whole AI rebelling thing. this theme is actually quite popular. i forgot what other movie did it too

They laughed at Jules Verne

OMG teh robots are gonna take over the world!!!!2 :eyespop:

btw, is the movie any good?

it is interesting....

robots are definitely the future.....

Funny part is, its not even really the future. We HAVE the technology to do it, just 15 years ago we didnt. The only thing holding it back right now is money and society itself.

A car could EASILY be programmed to take us to work, safely. But no one is going to trust that just yet. 15 years ago that was a dream, now its a reality, and that scares the public. Which I can understand.

You also cant forget why society is threatened by computers. In a sense they actually DO take over the world. They replace jobs. They've replaced millions already. And they not only do your work for free, they do it 10 times better and never complain.

Once society accepts and trusts the idea, we'll start seeing robotics utilized a lot more. Until then, society is comfortable with the old fashioned concept of keyboard and mouse.

scientists are already testing the computerized cars (psst.. don't tell anyone that, because we are not supposed to know that) with the simple GPS systems installed in every car. just tell the GPS where you are going, and it will lead you to the way. problem .. it will always go at a constant speed. the car will never exceed the speed limit. so no hot rodding on a 35 mph zone. sorry.

they already have AI in labor factories. why do you think they laid off so many labor workers offshore?

but they say about 2010, AI will be controlling the cash registers in the supermarkets. so no more dumb cashiers. :haha: :haha:

they already do to an extent. At Loblaws here. they have some cashes with cashiers but also like 10 cashes that you scan stuff and put them in the bag. and if you take them out. the computer tells you to out them back in, then i tells you to scan next idem then put it in the bag. they are in charge
anyways its nice, cause it goes alot faster cause no one wants to use them.

yeah .. just a few .. they say it will be a lot better scanners and smarter.

i do like it now, although it is a little slow scanning, and it doesn't take beat up money. i always have beat up money.

actually the book, "I, Robot" was written way before the Matrix was made. I f you really want to delve into depper exploration of these themes i would recomend reading all of Isaac Asimov's robot/AI books, i think its called "The Foundation Series"

I doubt it's supposed to be a big secret since it's been going on for at least 5 years now and they have a public testing strip in Arizona for it.

Imagine that people will have autopilot cars, even maybe flying ones.

I bet that alot of people will prob find a way to make it manual, just like with the speed limiting chips in cars today, people are always finding ways to not be controlled.

I personally would not want a autopilot car, unless it has both options (If you are pissed it would be nice that your car drives you home.... Hell I've had situations where my car prob did drive me home, I sure as hell wasn't driving and I was the only one in the car and I got home... somehow. )
