There is a good chance I will be in South Africa for New Years. Anyone know any good parties happening? Thanks!!!

Hey mate..good to see you on your way to this neck of the woods. As yet there is no confirmation, but there is a very strong liklihood PVD will be here in late Dec again. Apparently coming for a holiday but everytime he is here its 3000-4000 capacity so i rate he will be convinced to "work" for a coupe hours..hell he only needs to bring that Laptop with him :-)

Otherwise for quality trance you'd be better off in Joburg over Dec. Although it sucks compared to the beauty of Cape Town its scene is hardstyle and trance whilst here its hardhouse or Eurocheese..totally sucks but hey what can you do..if you do come out contact me via my website www.comedownmonday.co.za...we'll hook you up with all you need..hee hee!

Has joburg gone trance???

I'm from cape town, left beinning of 2002, I know hard house became far too prominent, and I hear pretty much all the clubs but Gallery have closed (*sniff* 96 degrees rocked!!), but I always thought Joburg was funky or bust?

Durban still Hard house based as well?

Wow, been in the UK for 3 years now

Ive always wondered what the Trance Scene was like in South Africa, or any part of Africa for that matter :)

was great in 99-00, fell to the might of hard house in 2001+ :(

Well look Joburg has gone Tiesto nuts...so hyped its almost commercial. Still a LOT of cheese but its better than in Cape Town where well..its just beyond help. Progressive scene in CT is going well. Its small, intimate but full of money. Models, music, movies stars..a bit plastic if you know what i mean

Probably folks who dont quite give in to the bull put on about our country by the likes of BBC and CNN, who incidently also toe the propaganda line when your countries go to war by the way. British TV, which we get on Satellite hear loves presenting the entire place as poverty stricken and third world..there are certainly issues but this is a beautiful place, and lots of people want to come here..first world tourist destination for third world price..what more can you ask for?

coming from the blue half of liverpool i wouldnt want to experience that :D

but i admit, being fed the stereotypical stuff from the news does make it seem like South Africa is a third world place. It was hard for me to understand that SA actually had a thriving trance/music scene. From images and videos (false ones) ive pictured SA as being a place of black ghettos with crime and not much chance of trance music making a stand. But it seems like trance has made a stand :)

Thanks a lot for the info. Are you sure about PvD b/c he is playing in NY for New Yrs so it would be hard for him to be in South Africa around that time. Any idea if Carl Cox will be in South Africa? I know he was there in the past for New Yrs? Thanks again HLD...may take u up on the offer of contacting you. Cheers, push.
