I wasnt there so i cant comment. But Madame Zu was a lot of fun at Viva. Reminded me of an old school rave. She played a lot of stuff that reminded me of what made tall paul famous in the 90s. |

Tall paul was @ his best..True the new Silence remix was quite a surprise to his House/progg oriented set,, but JAY man let me tell you that HE WAS ON FIRE! Mark delivered his usual BEST openin'/Closin' the night as always....(Can't wait for a 9hr Spin sat!)

my girlfriend and i were almost about to end up and some hole like venue or seven last nite, because her friends were going there, but thank god we didn't ;) !!! on a whim while drive into toronto, we decided last minute to do guv...i had no idea who the guest was and i don't even know anything about tall paul anyways...but did he blow me away!!! we entered through the drink as usual!!! and they renovated it along with tanga...i'm really digging the new look, because the hot pink b4 was a little bit hurting. i don't understand why you guys don't go through the drink??? (unless you don't like house music...because you get more rooms for the same cover, along with tanja which has a seating area that is more comfortable then my own bed!!!)
anyways, when we got there, manzone and strong were dropping some sweat house!!! kept it on the commercial side for the first hour or so which was cool, because a lot of fun to dance to...then we went to guv, i saw all those drums set up and wondered what was going on (i don't get this though, the guy was doing some cool stuff, but they didn't turn him on, so you could only hear the accoustic sound of the drums leaking through sometimes??? looked kinda stupid with him going nuts and not hearing it. to bad, cause it prolly woulda sounded cool, i love live percussion. Tall Paul was OOONNNNN FIIIIRREEEE!!!!!! his set rocked! non-stop sweat ass tune after another, he wouldn't let me sit, i just couldn't stop dancing (which was the complete opposite of Marco V last week who i found dropped a completely uninspired set (like i said in last weeks review, i love marco, but he was a million times better in july). the crowd was awesome to, not the usual jam packed guv...obviously packed, but with gaps to breathe! and thats the other reason why all you complainers should enter through the drink...because it gives you so much more space to move, and there aren't many places to sit in the main room, while theres tons of space in the others. we didn't stay to late...prolly headed out at around 4am. thats only cause my gf had to work today at 10am (she was a trooper for coming out tonite in the first place, so that was cool) but wow, that definately made up for a mediocra night last week...great job taul paul!!! |

Rarely does a drummer sound good with prog or techno.
U need a good house set and a drummer who understands the music for it to sound good. Oh yeah and he needs to know that people can only take it for 10 min intervals every few hours.
Thats probably why the power was cut to that guy LOL |

you're probably right lol...because he just kept going, i think if he didn't stop, it would've got annoying, but used only on certain tracks and sparingly it woulda sounded great.
what would you consider tall pauls sound as: it sounded like a prog house type of thing? with maybe some markus shulz influence. thats just speculation, what would you consider it as? whatever it was though, i loved it
oh btw...do you guys know the name of the song i guess it was around 2:30am which had a female vocal sample saying "i got a feeling, i can't explain" or something like that. |

now the real reveiw-- first of all thanks to shaya for the guestlist, it saved me time to get into the guv. also thanks for the pics and it was great meeting you again. well taul paul, i dont know much about him, all i know that he played silence and it was awesome. the new lasers at guv were kool, but they still need to expand the place. the crowd was normal last nite, there were no problems, but im still concerned about the future when tiesto/pvd/ferry corsten play at guv. also this one guy came to me and he was doing his glowsticks show in my face, unfortunately i had to be rude and i told him to fuk off and pushed him aside. maxtuh and i were smashed once again, as usual.:toothless i guess thats all, it was a fun night, atleast it wasnt as bad as before.:) |
